Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream gets free "Welcome Version" demo ahead of April 16th launch

With the release date rapidly approaching for the latest game in the Tomodachi Life series, the game has today received a free demo, dubbed the "Welcome Version". Progress will carry over to the full game when it launches in April, with a hamster costume being available to those who give it a go. It should be noted that this costume is not an exclusive reward. The demo will allow you to create up to three Miis to get a taste of what the game has to offer.

Upon further inspection even if it says you can keep playing after the demo there's really no reason. They don't get problems, you can't take them outside, you can't earn money.
Yeah. I'll just keep checking on my three Miis here and there until it finally comes out and I get my copy.

I loved the demo, but I'm still a little bummed about the apparently total lack of sharing or online connectivity in the game :( I can't even transfer my screenshots to my phone (but maybe that's just a demo thing? I worked around it using Atmosphere's USB file transfer anyway). I guess we'll see
Also, has there been any word on the maximum amount of Miis you can have? Everyone getting their own house at first makes me think it's lower - there's no fitting 100 houses on that little island...

No word on how many Miis we'll be able to have in the full version, but clearly you haven't been watching any of the trailers if you think that island will stay small in the full version. It's only that small right now because there's a very small Mii limit and limited options in the demo, so it's not reflective of any limits in the full game.

Much like with the original Tomodachi Life. The apartment complex in the demo had 24 rooms, which implied a much smaller limit. What the demo didn't tell you was that said limit DOUBLED once you hit 20 Miis, because the demo only let you have 3 Miis. It also limited you to a couple specific facilities (iirc, it was the Food Mart with a very limited selection that didn't change, and the Music Hall where only one pre-selected song was available).

Oh yeah, the shots with all the different islands from the direct! Forgot about that  Seems like the island gets a lot bigger as you progress. Phew!

I hope someone makes an app or save editor that allows us to share miis and ect or even better import miis from Miitopia

Yet it wont be cheaper as nintendo again cut their costs by giving you very little insternal storage and passing the cost of expensive storage onto the game dev or consumer.

With the rise of costs gettinf worse, nintendo again with their cheapness now wants to cut more costs by pushing digital only....

All because theyre fixated on expensive cartridge based media.

Regardless, if anything its going to cost you more having to buy larger storage than it would to buy a game that contains the game on the cartridge.... as nintendo games are pretty much like mobile apps, theyre small enough to fit onto a cartrdige.

And still.....

Theyre wanting to make it cheaper for them, re hashing the same recycled shit.

Oh huh! Okay, that's good to know.
I made a new save to toy with this and i was gonna just keep 2 miis but if adding the 3rd still allows it to progress so long as i don't give clothes then hmm

Liked the original one, but was pretty sure this wouldn't be for me, from what I heard. Tried the demo, deleted it a few minutes in.

I decided I am gonna do this the third time.

But this time, not making a third Mii and consequently, not doing the clothing store until a couple of days before the release (since I did hear if you don't give your first Mii a clothing, they will remain there), so I can have two Miis walking around. I'll need to do it for small amount of time since it is only a demo and like my second time, they will be transferred to my main island on release.

Though if you tried it many times, is it safe to still unlock the clothing shop (plus, the clothing loop as usual or does it end regardless), but as long as you don't give them any clothing, or am I missing something?

In my experience, when I unlocked the clothing shop, my Mii got stuck with the "I want new clothes" problem - I got around this by deleting my third Mii, which removed the clothing shop (I reloaded my last autosave beforehand but I don't know if that's necessary.) If you don't make a third Mii, you're safe.

Okay. I have decided I will have three dedicated profiles. Two of them will be the completed, dressed "lobomotized" Miis and the middle one is the two-Mii only save, so it'll get me some Tomodachi Life time while I wait because I am extremely hyped.

Plus, I was also curious what other clothing could loop, or is it the same ol' for the last round of outfits in the demo

Oh and final thing: I will merge all 8 (or 9 for when the last couple days happen), into my main island when the game comes out.

Wait... if you deleted the Mii, then would they keep the outfit even with the clothing store is removed and they walk normally or they revert back to their starter outfit?

Testing...
Okay, it seems like if you click on the "I want new clothes" problem, the game unavoidably railroads you into buying clothes and giving them to your Mii (thus ending the demo) - you can't open the menu to delete the third Mii or anything during that process
After the end of the demo is reached, deleting the third Mii doesn't affect anything - the clothing shop stays open and the Miis retain their clothes, but the demo stays in the end state (Miis still stuck in their houses)
Seems like the only way to avoid the demo ending is to not make a third Mii at all, or immediately delete the third Mii before touching anything that has to do with the clothing shop. If you did click on the problem, you can undo it by quitting the game and loading the last autosave

Hmm, I see.

Well, good to know lol. I'll still make my 2-Mii save only a two-Mii save if I want to continue.

Inevitably, it will be getting to a point I will have to make the third Mii and give them clothes. Last thing for those who waited, is the last daily special for the demo the same regardless, or does it change?

Apparently you can create a 3rd Mii, the point of no return is doing the tasks the Mii asks (Playing tails, Seeing the dream, Picking up the Mii that fell)

This is offtopic but I have a hot take:

I am not a fan of Miis reacting to clothing and not liking it. Not just this game but Tomodachi Life (and the DS game as well).

It's not really a big deal tbh but still need to say it.

If you're ok with the first mii becoming inaccessible for the mostpart you can make the third mii and go through with it. just don't end up clicking the problem bubble. You can take the first mii outside and have them interact still, my first mii actually formed a crush on the third because i kept taking her outside to interact by force instead of solving her problem.

Ultimately the second two miis will do whatever but the first one will always kinda wanna just. go back inside eventually to deal with a problem you don't want to solve.

It's never been a favorite thing of mine too but it doesn't mean too much because they'll still wear it regardless.
