Hello guys, the day has finally come!!!
The theme archive has been revamped and moved into a separate website. It is now called
Themestation!!!!
So you might be wondering...
why?
The maintainability was SO BAD in GitBook. Every time I wanted to add more themes to the website, I had to upload the assets to GitHub (which I don't really find ethical as GitHub is meant for FOSS repos, it's not a cloud storage), navigate to the GitBook editing page, add previews, write up the titles, and add the download URLs by hand for
every single theme I wanted to add. Over time, this really broke my motivation as I had to spend hours just to keep repeating the same process. This is the reason why it hasn't been updated for over a year. On top of that, all of my efforts would have gone straight to the trash if GitBook decided to delete the page for some reason.
All of these tasks are handled by the code that I've integrated into the website. The process is about 4x faster than it used to be. I tried to make a GitBook-like layout in order to keep the familiarity. The website is way snappier and less RAM-consuming than GitBook. On top of the existing themes, 49 new themes were added. I couldn't keep track of which themes were added for this specific update, but they will be included in future updates.
The theme browsing experience has been improved as well!
The letter-based filtering was removed and the number of categories has been increased. From now on, you can easily filter through the whole archive using the filter form.
Themes that are NSFW are blurred now. You can toggle this off easily using the filter form.
The old GitBook website will no longer be functional but it will be kept for historical reasons. Moving forward, you can expect monthly theme additions!
That's all for now.
The thread has reached 70k+ views!!!! Thanks for all the support!
Please check out the new website and tell me what you think about it! I'm always open for recommendations, criticism and questions.
And as always... stay tuned for the next update! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ
