Hardware Has anyone ever opened a DualShock 4 battery?

I'm wondering if anyone has cracked open the gray shell around the battery to get to the cell inside. (Similar to the PSP battery.) I'm re-using the old battery for another project, but the outer shell is a bit too bulky. I just want to do it safely, and would like to avoid using blades if at all possible.

(Sure, I could order a $7 LiPo off eBay or Amazon, but I'm trying to keep from creating e-waste. I always repurpose my batteries for other projects if I can.)


I'm assuming the cell inside looks smaller, but similar to this:

I know this is old but I'm about to crack one open. I'll update for future searchers.

To open I cut a small amount on the edge to open it enough to pry it open with my hand or a card. Seems safe if you do it at the top.

There's some adhesive on the bottom so you'll want to use a bit of alcohol to loosen it up.
