He's in jail.
Are you implying that Tom doesn't know how to do a jailbreak? Pfft..
The reason for his "disappearance" could be that he's busy exploring the universe, he was abducted by aliens, or he's one of them and his mission here on earth ended (for some reason). The aforementioned 3 scenarios are all equally possible.
Case in point, he's busy with stuff that actually matters, much important in fact than wasting time on some "video games" forum filled with weird dudes asking for feet pics.

Wait I'd swear I saw this guy on chat a couple of days ago or something...
or maybe I am confusing him with someone else?? how long was this guy gone?

since october last year apparently. I must have confused it or seen a thread where he posted and thought it was new.
Or maybe he time traveled to the future? like for instance he went to post in the chat/thread, and then went back to the past (October 2023) and he stopped posting, and here we are now.
Or an other version of himself from another alternate universe doing that is also possible. Whatever made Tom do that, it must've been really important..

Rumours of my incarceration, timeline hopping, hivemind collapse, lack of AI tokens

Nothing so exciting I am afraid. The river next to my house (in which my stuff was in the basement of knowledge electronics misery) was all "has it really been 1000 years since I visited?" I was content to keep visiting myself rather than that way around but hey. The resulting party seeing the house get tore up from the floor up I then get to play the same game as various friends that got divorced and get to restart life without the benefit of the energy I had in my teens and twenties, also gained a particular disdain for the "but they have insurance" crowd.
I am dog sitting for someone this evening, found a laptop I could slap into working order and thus thought I might check out some of the old haunts. I shall return full time eventually but probably not for a while yet, seen as I had essentially no internet as well (my dislike of mobile phones is quite alive and kicking, and fttc, that is to say fibre to the caravan, did not seem the thing to do) I have quite a bit to catch up on (though about 5 games worth playing if a quick scan is anything to go by -- I am quite used to specific systems having no games but several years of reality is truly the darker timeline).

Return of the KING.

So glad to hear you're doing well. Sorry to hear about all the stuff you lost but I'm just relieved to know you're well.

You missed a grand meetup last week in London!

I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through at the moment in your life, but on the plus side, I'm pleased that you're still okay and are here to be around. Your talented knowledge and understanding about game consoles have inspired me to delve into this hobby of making write-ups, and for maybe 3 1/2 years since I last spoken to you about it, I can't thank you enough, as-well as many others who are interested and have learnt something from you.

It's true that the KING, that is you, has returned. :grog:

HEY
I am so glad you are alive and well - as "well" as you can be at least after all that's happened. You got us very worried.
I was in the UK just last week and we were seriously considering a trip to your town to investigate what might have happened to you. I don't know why we ended up not doing it (I think simply I didn't find the time in my schedule) but in the end things worked themselves out.
I hope you will come back to Telegram, we miss you on the mag staff channel!
