yesterday my switch was working normally. i was in the emulated firmware and i never really go into any other firmware anyways. because of my controller not connecting with my switch i wanted to reboot my switch after reinstalling mission control over the homebrew app. idk if this is relevant but i just wanted to add this info.

but my switch didnt boot into the hekate menu like it usually does, it just booted to the ofw. and ever since then, no matter what i do, it only boots into ofw. i replaced all the hekate files with the newest ones, i rebooted several times, i inserted like 3 different versions of the hekate payload. but no matter what i do, it boots into the ofw. the only payload that works is the lockpick payload but choosing to boot into hekate over there does not work either. everytime it just boots into the ofw. is there something wrong? the micro sd card still looks the same, its not likei deleted anything on it. thanks in advance for any help

It might be a hardware issue where one of the wires/connections failed.
There for it can't perform the hack and you end up in the ofw.

There is an error led on most boards (picofly/hwfly/instinct) that can show an error code.
Maybe you can see it flashing from the bottom openings.

Yeah, happened to me as well. Try to check the error code on the mod chip through the bottom vent/speaker holes. You WILL need to open up the console and fix the wires.

thanks for your reply. the whole thing that i don't understand tho is that i have a v1 unpatched switch. (sorry, i should've mentioned it in the post but i was very tired lol) i'm not that tech savvy, so correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i could gather is that i do not need a modchip, right? and everything was working normally like it was supposed to until i restarted it.

so i'm really confused why this is happening so suddenly. and my research so far has only shown me similar issues about the modchip. do i need to replace my sd card or something? thanks for your help so far!! :)

Could be the sd card slot on your switch has gone. Can you try another sd card?
i don't believe that is it, when i look at the sd card through the lockpick rcm i still see everything that is on there. i dont know what else to do :/

Something similar just happened to me. It was working on Sunday & now won't boot. I got a few different error messages about the payload. If I figure it out I'll report back!
