I've got my old childhood GBA SP AGS-001 I'm planning to fix up (it's got no battery and a completely busted screen). I'm torn between sourcing an original AGS-001 screen and keeping it fully stock, or upgrading to a Funnyplaying ITA TFT screen (and thus replacing the original shell, which I'm not really keen on tbh).

For those with an AGS-001: how's the screen hold up nowadays? Is the frontlight still bright enough for actual everyday use, or is it only really useful at night in the dark?
I have a gameboy light, and found the backlight is too dim to be of any help outside of total darkness, and otherwise requires me to shift around finding the perfect angle and lighting to actually see anything. Worried this will be the same experience with an AGS-001.

For those with an FP ITA screen: how's the battery life? Is it noticeably worse than stock? If so, is it still worth the upgrade over a stock AGS-001 in your opinion?
From power draw figures in makho's spreadsheet it looks like I'd be getting around 1/3-1/2 the battery life I'd get from a stock AGS-001 (so like 8-10 hours), would you say this is accurate? Or do you get better battery life than that with the ITA kit?

Any input from stock AGS-001 or FP ITA TFT users would be greatly appreciated!

P.S: Before anyone suggests it: no I do not want an IPS display.

I have a few spare AGS-001 screens here I will look around for them I forget where I put them then I will contact you about shipping, you can have the screen for free, just pay for the postage. as for batteries, the Funnyplay SP battery is perfect and the best aftermarket one you can find, I also have one of them spare here that you can have for basically cost in the same package if you want it.

^ only because I am Australian also :)

Last edited by Hunter,
I personally really like the FunnyPlaying ITA screen. It's pretty easy to install, but it does require a little bit of soldering and the custom shell as already stated. The battery life is worse than stock, but my battery is also like 20 years old. It's worth noting that the ITA kit uses a DSi screen if you want to see what the screen looks like in person before ordering.

I also included before and after pictures of one of my SPs with the ITA kit.
