Yo, My name is toad and this is my final review of "The Legend Of Zelda: The Windwaker" on the Nintendo Switch 2 system!

I must start this off by saying i'm in no way mad that we finally have the chance to play this absolute gem on modern hardware and I had an absolute hell of a time playing this but there was just way too many chances that Nintendo has had for years to make this game however every single chance that they had they missed. You may ask why?
  • First of all the Wii-U version was an absolute gem in a basket full of Wii-U games that are well not the sharpest tool in the shed. I would have loved to see a port of the Wii-U version for the 40th anniversary of the franchise.
  • I must emphasize that NSO is not a game it is a SERVICE that may I add Nintendo can just pull the plug on at any point in time which is not just bad for the consumer but horrible for the future of video games
  • Suspend Point system, if you forget to save and don't have a suspend point then screw you, you just lost everything and have to start over again
  • This is a minor one and it is just a given with all of Nintendo Switch Online, it is not at all the same as the original (PRO TIP: Try turning on the CRT filter in settings!)
  • The controls withe the JoyCon-2's are ...Intresting?
So that's my thoughts but if you just want to experience the game then I recommend this to you however after you beat it you may be itching to play the remaster (I am too!)

An interesting review… If you don’t save you have to start over..? Well… obviously..?

Really the biggest thing stopping me from enjoying the game on NSO is the input delay. It’s not usually something I notice but the game just feels off. I do want to replay it at some point, but this doesn’t seem to be the time for me.

While the fact that if you don't save you have to start over is known by pretty much everyone the problem is people have gotten used to the luxury of auto saving which to make it a fair comparison the HD remaster does not have that feature either. I was just stating that as a warning

I'd bet Nintendo is going to re-release WWHD, but if you want a cheap version, that's the rental GCN emulated copy.

I played WWHD and TPHD on the Wii U and I loved it.

Windwaker on steamdeck is better then windwaker on gamecube , wii U , and swith 2
I used Cemu and it's the wii U version with hencement and QoL all around

No shit

A more expensive and powerful system with a much older and refined emulator runs and plays better

Who would have known… do you steam deck users even play your systems or are you too busy telling people how much better the system is unprompted? Yall are the vegans of the gaming space

Lmao you realize the switch 2 is more expensive right? 319 steam deck vs 500 switch 2 + subscription to be unplayable. But hey keep sucking off Nintendo they really care about you. That's good stuff you made my day thank you.

This is not a review of wind waker at all, it's barely a review of the gamecube NSO service...

It's not a review of the game itself, nor is it a review of the experience on the NSO service compared to the GameCube non-emulated original.

Instead all your points are reviews of NSO retro games experience in general (most not even gamecube specific, let alone Wind Waker specific).

None of this is really a problem, but you might want to label any future reviews more accurately, or keep in mind the intent of your review as you're writing it, as I can see this starting as a review of WW on NSO, and ending up a sort of overview of NSO emulation in general from a surface level.

319 for a refurbished system if you can manage to order one once they are in stock every few months

A used switch 2 on marketplace is about the same price near me

That being said I do not understand the sucking off Nintendo comment. Yall are still the ones that came into a Nintendo forum unprompted to tell us about the glory of your portable pc when no one asked lol one could say you’re sucking off steam cause of that :p

to be fair, on 3ds (and maybe Wii U?) vc, it made an automatic suspend point whenever closing the game and automatically continued from the suspend point. so from the point of view of someone who might have never played older games outside of vc, it might be unexpected when nso doesnt do this. so they should probably have automatic suspend point like vc did

even if it only happens once and you learn afterwards, it's bad design if it catches users by surprise and they lose data because of it

256gb LCD Steamdeck costs 335€ now in autum sale (419€ retail price, refurbished price 339€ but they are out of stock most of the time) while OLED Version costs 569€.
Switch 2 (not bundle!) starts at 460€, NSO with upgrade for gamecube is 39€ a year.

Please keep the facts straight.

Same here in the US 99% of the time refurbished units are out of stock

They sell out very quick usually

No offence but I went into this review knowing very little about the game and I still know very little about the game.
Windwaker is a sailing simulation more than anything imo

But I know a lot of Zelda fans will want to hang me for saying that 🤣 I can see and understand the charm; I enjoyed phantom hourglass and loved its sailing after all!

But phantom hourglasses sailing wasn’t nearly as lifeless between islands. Windwaker I was able to just set my controller down, and smoke for a few minutes. Zero interaction and I’d still not be at my destination

That’s no fun to me

the fast sail in the remaster really helped it, but it doesnt really fix that 75% of the map is just copy/pasted reefs and pirate ships

I still like WW, but it's definitely the most overrated 3D Zelda in my book.

Doesn't mean it's bad, far from it, it's a great game no doubt. It's just praised so much and I haven't seen any other reason than nostalgia to explain that. It's a bit baffling to me that some people consider it "objectively" better than Oot or TP lol

I paid roughly 700€ for my 512gb Steam Deck.
I love my Steam Deck, but it was not cheap compared to a Nintendo console. It is cheaper now, sure, but it's been several years since it originally launched.

This is not cheap:
