Not trying to be mean but - Too many unaddressed concerns by the creator... IMO. Embarrassing stuff to be honest this long after taking peoples' money without transparency or any obligation to keep people informed of status updates.
..this project is gonna be a hard pass for me.
Skimming the discord sounds like there's now concerns of the screen or case not being flush, and battery drain being a thing as well specific to the touch model. And whether or not cutting the magnesium frame is optional, recommended, or required for touch model. And impact of tariffs / possible price increases passed along to the customer. And moving goal posts of ETAs or no ETA. And even if that
other person means well or is nice, Taki effectively has some random novice installer / eBay reseller vouching for him at every turn just cause he did a few installs on the no touch model and likes to flaunt his hekate screens and downloaded games.
This is like a masterclass in how to not 'launch' a product, even if its a small shop. He continues to show minor progress / improvements (really fundamental fixes to basic functionality that was promised like vsync stuff from HDMI) to the product he's
already sold people, and continues to show interest in other upcoming projects. Should get basic affairs in order and ship what he's already committed to before ramping up other endeavors. This would all be fine if he weren't running a business and just doing some hobbyist one-off things for friends. But he isn't. His customer are inherently not his 'friends'.
Even worse, there is no documentation as has been called out repeatedly recently, no updated product description, no updated YouTube videos for how to put this thing together, vague tweets, and couple word responses to peoples worries that always leaves room for interpretation or an out. Not seeing much empathy at all, it's hard to believe he's doing this 'out of love' for the gaming community. As far as I can tell, why would he have any love for people constantly seeking answers (rightfully) and getting frustrated by lack of transparency over and over again?
Even if
@Voultar and Taki had a nice chat and remedied things, I think he was not out of line for calling it out. I'm not sure I'd so go far as to call him a scammer, can't know this person's true intentions in light of missing the mark, but they certainly seem to have been punitive towards patient people with money on the table by their actions (why would Taki cancel Voultar's order for being outspoken? It's his right to deny doing business with someone, but it seems retaliatory for Voultar just trying to warn potential future customers from falling into the same frustrating trap as he fell into, as a customer) or lack thereof.. again IMO. And a slow moving disaster, if nothing else.

And to the point of this thread, non-integer scaling to a 1080p display (or lets say for arguments sake 720p with sub optimal sub pixel structure at best, resulting in a non-integer scaling appearance) absolutely will stick out to enthusiasts especially on a smaller display where fine details need to be sharp for tired eyes to see them. Ripping apart a switch lite, potentially breaking it, to get OLED contrast levels with so many concessions and non razor sharp pixels seems like the ultimate dilemma: is it actually worth it?
He argues lots of games aren't 720p native, which is really a distraction from the elephant in the room that nobody wanted a 1080p display on a 720p max handheld device but I'm pretty sure a decent amount of the first party titles that specifically draws people to Switch, are. And if you're saying 'well it's a 540p game it's gonna look like crap anyways' sort of thought process, what's the point in going through the hassle of swapping out the panel?
And if sourcing a modern quality 720p 5 inch OLED display proves to be difficult or impossible, why would he not have considered a higher quality 720p 5 inch LCD display that, when calibrated, certainly would knock the pants off the cheap but nicely calibrated Innolux's that shipped with Lite. Even V1/V2 LCD switches leapfrog over Lite in screen quality, and they preceded it.
And reaching out to home-brew devs to see if they will accommodate his 1080 panels, OK I guess. But not everyone wants to go down the home-brew rabbit hole simply to have the product they thought they were getting. And the onus is certainly not on them to fix his product either.
