Question: extract save files from xbox one hard disk

No, developer mode uses different per-boot derived keys so it can't decrypt the retail version of it in dev mode. If I remember right, the "ConnectedStorage" without the "-retail" is the Developer Scratch mounted to D:\ while in Developer Mode.

Question: extract save files from xbox one hard disk

Saves are stored in ConnectedStorage-retail (XVD) stored on the "Temp" partition for legacy but for Series X/S it'll be on System Support. It's per-console encrypted and no way to get keys at the moment. Unfortunately, you can't access the ConnectedStorage on retail via typical file explorer...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

I do not know to be honest. This will depend on if the license served from Xbox Live/Microsoft Store doesn't restrict the "BootMode". Every license on the console, at least for most games and apps, contains a "BootMode" to determine if its allowed on Retail, SRADevKit, ERA, etc. So without the...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

What's the question about UWP apps? If they aren't encrypted then you can dump them and run them fine in Dev Mode.

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

Yeah... this isn't decided, for the most part, by anything OS level/for Dev Mode anyway. Again, this comes down to the AMDSP. If you want to decrypt a game on the console, you require the license but if you're in Developer Mode then the AMDSP will refuse it while in that mode. Administrator in...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

I would not phrase it as "access to retail". There are limited XVD's you could read and write to. Having Host access while in Developer Mode would not allow decryption of retail games. Cannot load the licenses for titles while in developer mode; would require an exploit within the AMDSP.

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

I mean; I could be misremembering but pretty dead certain that yeah, Dev Mode uses separate *data* XVD's (: But... if you had Host execution in Dev Mode, then there's some neat tricks with retail-based XVD's. Kinda. :)

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

It may get fixed but there's also been a way to elevate in Dev Mode. To add on to the files being encrypted on dump, and maybe a new post that highlights this so people can learn, you won't be able to decrypt games whatsoever in Dev Mode - unless there was an exploit within the AMDSP itself...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

No, just their boot image - nothing with the 'exploit'. You can install signed store AppX but it's not reliable and won't run either if it's mainly Windows-based. Not been successful. In the case of Windows Terminal, even if you installed it on retail it would be a waste. Without higher...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

It worked in giving a response for sure; one that's completely incorrect. Anyway, upon some further reversing and slight testing; games will only be extractable at runtime within: Host ERA GameCore Important to note that's for the decrypted file data. System OS appears to be prohibited from...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

Likely, again, via the XConfig. It's a bug that allowed external loading of a "VBI". This is presumed to a "Virtual Boot Image" which appears to contain boot components (e.g. drivers, registry files and windows loaderblock) that is used to boot up a VM on the console. The exploit exists in the...

Hacking Has an XB1 game ever been dumped before?

Unlikely. It would require modifying XConfig which is stored in the flash (os_d.cfg) but it's per-console encrypted. However, I believe this was not always the case - so perhaps possible on 2015 but I cannot say for sure.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
