ROM Hack Hosting an out-of-region local multiplayer game

I have a US and European 3ds and run into this too when trying to multiplayer, its really frustrating. One thing i have observed is with Terraria, I can successfully multiplayer between both systems as long as no updates are installed. even if both copies have the same level of update patches...

Homebrew I have some questions about the "eShop - old version downloader"

I successfully downloaded 1.0 ironfall on my n3ds yesterday from oldeshop. Today following the same procedure on my o3ds the download errors out before it starts - interestingly on the download/purchase confirmation page of the store it says the game will take 0 blocks on the SD card. Other...

Vappy wow! do you have a super gameboy by any chance?

Everdrive GB, Game Boy flash kit released

A problem with current flashcart multi rom menus (with a single compiled rom rather than a menu accessing a filesystem) is that the gameboy boots into "color" mode or "B&W" mode and then its set, so a few limitations present themselves when using a menu that do not when you flash games 1 at a...

    Ryukouki Discusses! Digital Rights Management

The problem with boycotting invasive DRM games with the goal of making the publishers change their stance is just playing in their favour. They will see less copies sold, blame piracy, and then increase future DRM anti-piracy efforts.

Deaf Resident Evil composer admits to using ghostwriters for more than 10 years

Surely a ghost writer's job is to write - or compose - on behalf of another person, in exchange for a fee, and giving the rights to the created works to the person who commissioned them? Do you think all these celebrities who write autobiographies actually write them themselves? If I was to...

Pokémon - The Battle Between Legitimacy and Legality

I think they should be allowed in the games, it's the players personal choice how they want to make their teams and how to have fun! But nintendo are in a position where they have no choice but to take the moral high ground and prevent all tool generated pokemon from the poke bank and out of...

    #4ThePlayers, Playstation since 1995

This had a lot of memories for me at the start, as I was about the same age as the subject at the start, and also lived in south London (London eye hadn't actually been built then... never mind) It kept me with resident evil! I loved playing code veronica.... on my Dreamcast! Never played...

Hacking Best Card for DSi XL, UK

yeah i was referring to my old and trusty R4 (spring loaded, non-dsi, non-sdhc) workhorse card in my normal DS lite. If we were 4 years in the past or whenever it was I bought this, i'd recommend it in a heartbeat :-)

Hacking Best Card for DSi XL, UK

duely noted :-) Acekard or M3i it is. I'm not too fussed about 100% compatibiliy... but if its horrific then I wont waste my money. I'll be getting my DSi XL and a flashcard together from the same dealer, so I will at least know its updated to work together.

Hacking Best Card for DSi XL, UK

Is anything wrong with the R4DSi platinum? They used to be all the rage back in the day, are they no longer a good card to get. Im getting an XL next week or so and was just going to get another R4 like i'm used to, but no one seems to be actively recommending them any more

    3 Skypephone

They are quite nice, only downsides I know of is the battery life isn't that great compared to some handsets, and last i checked skypein wasn't working (yet) I have 2 friends with them and aside from those points they both highly rate them.

    Gaming Portable Linux Devices

It looks like the eeepc that you mentioned might be the machine for you considering what you said you'd be doing with it. now that the eee900 with the bigger screen and bigger capacity drive is out, lots of early adopters with 700s might possibly be looking to sell theirs off. It has a 900Mhz...

    GB Classic Flashcard ?

There was a device called the GB bridge back in the later bung days. It was an action replay looking thing where you put your GBA cart (flashed with GB roms) into your gameboy/gameboy color. It might be easier to track down than a GB flashcart these days, and it might work with the current gen...

I can't believe you got me with that

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
