    Gaming Unknown IDE Controller

    Doubt it. It is on a laptop that does not have a floppy drive. I looked up the hardware ID in a database and determined that it is a RAID controller, which I have never installed. When I downloaded the drivers for it, they would not install.

    I did not install any of those, although I have recently installed VMWare View, but I uninstalled that. I doubt the controller would be part of that.

    There is another working IDE device in device manager, however I have an extremely limited BIOS and cannot enable/disable any devices. Everything seems to be working fine, but I want to figure out why that appeared suddenly.

    MAC Addresses can easily be spoofed. I wouldn't rely on just that for security. Go with WPA2-AES. Impossible to crack.

    I am looking for a decent laptop for college. I want to hear some recommendations. I want it to be good for gaming, with a decent CPU and GPU. I will welcome any suggestions, but I am looking for one preferably under $800. Also, is 17" too big to carry around to classes?

    I remember playing Metroid Prime Hunters on wifi. The cheating was getting so bad that I had to cheat also just to stand a chance.
