The Internet Archive Suffers Alleged Security Breach

Archive Today came with malicious code built in. They literally used your browser to DDoS sites they didn't like such as the North Country Gazette, and that's in addition to the unusual Russian and Chinese tracking services it uses.

Valve DMCA's both "Portal 64" and "Team Fortress 2: Source 2" projects

Valve has no obligation to Nintendo to issue a takedown, and Nintendo could have submitted the same exact thing with much more ease than going through Valve. In submitting the DMCA Notice they certify that under penalty of perjury that they are the copyright holder or is an agent authorized to...

"Game Porting Toolkit" by Apple will allow Windows games to run on Mac, similar to Proton on Linux

That's because Catalina dropped support for 32-bit applications. Catalina does not support Apple Silicon.

Depends on if the developers make any fixes I guess, I've noticed Proton at least has the same graphical glitches in certain games on both Linux and Mac.

Hacking Question Any way to add a WiFi connection without going online?

So if you boot to RCM and dump the NAND, nothing is logged at that time, since you haven't booted into the system, correct?

But is it booting from RCM, or is it booting RCM, shutting down, and then booting normally also logged? Isn't the eMMC filesystem still encrypted at that point?

Is RCM logged or is shorting pin 10 logged? It seems like the OS itself would have to do the logging, RCM probably doesn't know how to access the filesystem, nor does it even need the eMMC present.

Usually the NAND is dumped by booting from a payload or linux, isn't it? It doesn't seem very detectable.

That one only works with the RetroDuo IIRC.

What SNES to NES adapter are you looking at? I was looking at one a while ago, but it turned out to be an NES that just used the SNES for power, not really an adapter.

You can just buy a USB OTG adapter for much cheaper if all you want is USB storage.

I think if you can figure out what server it checks to see if there's connectivity you can block everything but that. Hopefully it shouldn't transmit any ban worthy data in that step, and it just checks if it can actually connect to the internet.

No, if you have a NAND backup you can still theoretically restore that and go online without risk. Being banned removes that option.

A console that never connects to the internet usually doesn't get banned, unless Nintendo is Psychic.

Wonder if they're going to violate GPL.
