    Is it safe though? You say "upgrade" but if it's currently "half arm9 done" is it not possible I could screw it up? Am I making sense? Reinstalling is no issue, there's sod it all on it.

    I've acquired a "new" style 3DS cheap and managed to rescue it from a potential "brick mode". It now boots into standard 3DS mode as long as a small file called arm9loaderhax.bin is on the MicroSD card. Naturally I'm pleased I at least got to this stage as my experience of softmodding anything...
