Misc Has anyone attempted to abuse the Nintendo Zone streetpass relay?

Well folks, this summer's vacation is over (for me) and I'm back to my Real Life job, which means I am away from my main computer for the best part of the week (plus, no private internet connection in the apartment at my work place). I would have mentioned this earlier, but Real Life can easily...

Misc Has anyone attempted to abuse the Nintendo Zone streetpass relay?

Great news knowing this! Yesterday evening, I fixed my issues with my script (turned out that my routing spontaneously stopped working after a random package updated itself, found a different set of iptables calls on the web, and everything worked again) and did a similar test - got "Tane" on my...

Misc Has anyone attempted to abuse the Nintendo Zone streetpass relay?

There seem to be some issues for some people in Germany getting through to Nintendos servers, I just got asked by MirkoD, who seems to have the same problems as I do - random error messages in the Zone viewer and generally no contact to the relay server. SignZ doesn't seem to have these...

Didn't have any success - but maybe I exhausted all available addresses an hour ago. Rebooted the PC, still didn't work. Maybe it's just my internet that's acting strange. Getting a new Nintendo error code each time I try to access the Nintendo Zone viewer. Whatever, I'll try it again after 8...

Weird, all MAC addresses just stopped working for me, with the exception of my smartphone - and the smartphone's MAC also does not work from Linux. Just slept a night, so it can't be the 8-hour limit. Weird... did Nintendo manage to block it already?

Wow. During the last 24 hours, I got more StreetPass encounters that otherwise in an entire month (including somebody from Tokyo - I did believe that this is the one place on the world where relay abuse is not required :) ) Now that the mechanism is verified to work, I have started to think...

Okay, here is my script; it works only on Linux systems. Beyond standard suff that every distro should have, you will need: rfkill, dnsmasq, hostapd. If you have any of the last two running on your system, the script will kill them. You will need to change at least two lines in the script to...

Tested and works. Got your Mii on my first 3DS, and my first Mii on my second 3DS. In fact, I have used this opportunity to test my theory on country codes; sent my second 3DS to US, and still made a contact. Country code myth busted? Needs more teting... Edit: whoops, got SignZ instead...

Wow, that's a lot of activity here since yesterday! Let me try to address as many points as possible. Some of you have been wondering about the country setting. Well, I initially got 2 MAC addresses to begin with, and the first one didn't work as expected, it beheaved like a "fresh" address -...

I have just remote-passed duke_srg, who lives in Russia (so it's very unlikely he just went past my home :) ). My initial theory was almost right, spoofing a MAC address seems to *almost* do the trick - but you also need to spoof a correct WiFi country code. (If you have never heard of this...

I have something to add. I've been experimenting with the relay system, and I believe that it's *not* the public IP that counts. Routing IP packets from one computer to another one isn't nearly that easy, and can follow an arbitrary path through the web (ask Wikipedia about "traceroute" for some...

Hello everybody, I'm a long time lurker who has finally decided to register here. I'm pretty much a Nintendo fanboy, with a Wii, a Wii U, two DS, one DSi, two 3DS, and about 6 different flash cards (not to mention three GBA and two GB classic). Pokemaniac, RPG fan, LEGO fan, comic freak, and...
