    I heard ssbb (The original disc, not burnt) will freezes over time, this is because the laser scan is filled with dust and since SSBB is on a Dual layer disc, it's more harder for the laser scan to read.     I agree with you, like that Metroid game on DS where it needs you to tap Samus to do that spinning jump thing, despite they can just make it into a button, because during that game i find myself switching alot.
