    Still, assuming he did have 3000 hp against that kunemon and a few items, and "buffed up attack" it should give him enough time to get 2 Finishers which should be more than enough to kill that kunemon assuming he can tap l and r at a decent speed.

    Yeah, they failed to make a good rpg, if they'd just continued to improve on digimon 1 they'd have a solid series by now, the raising digimon with lifespan is what made the game unique, since the game would never be too easy, as you had to constantly train your digimon or get pwned by the end...
