Hardware Lost audio after burning pads off while installing FunnyPlaying USB-C charging port mod.

Thanks for the reply. I just did that now with a toothbrush and 70% alcohol. The audio didn't return, but the removing the blob revealed that the connection between the two white lines was severed a while back, and all the pads (burned or not burned) are visible now. Looks like I messed it up...

Hardware Lost audio after burning pads off while installing FunnyPlaying USB-C charging port mod.

Hello! A while back I installed the FunnyPlaying usb-c charging port and burned off a pad or two in the process, one of which from what I understand was linked to the speakers so I lost all audio functions. For some reason a while later I thought it'd be a good idea to start repairs by removing...

Testing for pad damage on a Pokemon Gold board.

I'm in the midst of trying to revive my save of pokemon gold from a few months ago, and I've got reason to believe that there's an issue with the pads on the PCB that you're supposed to solder the tabs to. The pads themselves look fine, but I was wondering if there's any way to check them using...

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Ok so I tried removing some of the solder on the chip, since the original job I did was actually pretty sloppy, and the good news is it doesn't shut my console down anymore. The bad news is that my console isn't reading it at all and cleaning the pins with alcohol didn't help, so ig I killed it?

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Alright so I managed to sand down the chip enough that it fits comfortably, but plugging it into my console still causes an instant shutdown. Any advice?

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Oh :rofl2:. I was actually wondering about that while doing it. I put it with the front text not upside-down after opening it up, in other words the same direction as the chip next to it on the board. 1678810499 I'll be going down to get the stuff for this tomorrow. Normal sand paper from a...

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

I've created the ultimate weapon. My copy of Pokémon diamond instantly powers off any DS console it's inserted into. Turns out the chip I bought was a few mms taller than the original, so the cartridge casing doesn't slide in cleanly anymore, so the console short-circuits when trying to make a...

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Ok, so I'm having some trouble with the soldering. I've flattened out the connectors but I think the bottom of the chip might be glued to the surface of the board, because it's not budging an inch.

The new chip just arrived, will be making the replacement and posting the results shortly.

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Possibly, although it's also possible that the game might have a check in place if no save chip is detected at all. Worth a shot though.

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

Yeah, I've tried just about every save manager I could on my softmodded 3ds, none of them worked. I'll try messaging @IS1982 about the chip, thanks.

Hardware Replacing Pokémon Diamond Save Flash Chip

A while ago I purchased a copy of Pokémon diamond from a flee market. I didn't test it out and discovered the save data on it was severely corrupted, and it gives me this error when I boots: After some asking around on reddit, I've narrowed down to a hardware issue with the save flash chip...
