Hacking Speculations about Switch 2 hacking

It's a matter of when, not if. Given enough time and motivation, any security system can and will fall, especially if the user has physical access to the device. The best they can do is make breaking the security as annoying as possible to delay the inevitable. Their ideal scenario is it gets...

How real is the possibility of a softmod exploit?

If it turns out the universe is NOT a closed system, which is looking more and more likely, however...

Hacking Best practice for preserving Switch 2 exploitability?

Would definitely be interesting if it turns out some sort of factory defect in the capacitors bricks a ton of switches.

    Do you have a Switch 2 pre-ordered?

Southeast asia region here, and pre-orders just went up for our retailers, but we have no confirmation on the SRP. My Switch 1 is purely for playing 1st party games, and games which normally have Denuvo on PC that never gets removed (so mostly Sega) nowadays.

PocketPair reports and details the alleged infringed patents from The Pokemon Co. lawsuit

Followed the Japanese tweet for a bit, and unlike the last post on this topic by Palworld, which was overwhelmingly negative against Palworld, reactions overall seem to be mixed, leaning towards neutral. Some posts are even openly voicing support for Pocketpair this time.

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

They're probably doing research to make sure they have an airtight case. It's possible they tried to explore all the copyright and trademark angles, and found that they can't catch them on those as part of it, before considering the patent aspect. This is actually a very Japanese line of...

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

The neat part is they're acknowledging this, are working on fixing it with experiments, and even have a word for it (冤罪). It'll probably take several generations though given how notoriously resistant their culture is to change.

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

Did some digging around on the Japanese-side of the discussion. Warning that is hearsay since I'm not good at Japanese (yet). As a whole, the Japanese public is on Nintendo's side, and are condemning Pocketpair, under the thinking that "they're getting what they deserve". It seems that the...

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

And that is why over the last 20 years, we've never had minigames during the loading screen. By the time the patent fell off, SSDs have become a thing. Blame Namco for that.

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

There's no actual gameplay implementation in the trailer, so no possibility of a patent violation. Now's different now that there's tangible gameplay mechanics. Using this: https://patents.justia.com/assignee/the-pokemon-company At the very least, I can see one patent there that resembles the...

Nintendo is suing the creators of Palworld

Reminder that this is a PATENT infringement. It most certainly is not the concept of monster collecting they're worried about, because Atlus was there first. The Pal designs would be more a matter of copyright than patents, so not likely that either. Maybe it's the "toss a ball to capture"...

ROM Hack Cheat Codes AMS and Sx Os, Add and Request

Request cheat for 妖怪ウォッチ1 for Nintendo Switch v1.3 TID: 0100C0000CEEA000 BID: B6E172353E696E65 There's some cheats for other BIDs apparently. Mainly after the gacha coins since the only reliable way to get them otherwise is via their NFC merch which are... kinda hard to get outside of Japan.

[Tutorial] Extract, Edit & Rebuild CIAs made simple 2023.

Is it normal for the resultant .cia file to be much, much, much smaller than the original? I'm trying to rebuild yo-kai watch 3 with modified sound files, and the resulting edited cia came out at a little over 1 GB compared to the normal 3 GB of the original.

Nintendo takes down Yuzu-based emulators including Suyu, Sudachi, Torzu, Uzuy and Nuzu

True. There's a bit of a "guilty until proven innocent" mechanic to DMCA takedowns, where it's the platform trying to save their own skin, leaving it to the content creator to stand firm or fold. Even with a counternotice, Github won't immediately put the content back up until after the grace...
