Hacking Is wiikeu is similar to wii wode?

I think when a developer openly says that they refuse to develop for a system due to the rampant piracy, that's all the proof needed to illustrate that high piracy causes a loss of third party support. The data you're looking for does exist, in multiple different forms. As you put, it's open...

Hacking Is wiikeu is similar to wii wode?

DS still required a hardware purchase to hack (flashcard), so it doesn't really work for your example... I will concede the point on the Wii -- somehow it managed to continue a good stream of first and third party titles (ignoring the shovelware) even after it became trivially easy to hack...

Hacking Is wiikeu is similar to wii wode?

Actually, yes, kind of like how the PSP lost third party support (look at the amount of games released over the life of the system vs. other handheld consoles, excluding the abortion that is the Vita -- several developers have specifically stated that they did not localize or release games in...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

Quite the contrary. The architecture of the PS3 is absolutely nothing like the PS2, which is why in order to have backwards compatibility, they basically built a separate PS2 inside the PS3 in the launch models. They then polished off a passable software emulator and used that for a generation...

    Hacking Wiiu hacked? yes please

I agree with your overall point, however, Xenoblade Chronicles was an awesome (and very good looking, for Wii) open-world RPG on the Wii. :) So they definitely can make them.

Hacking Just a thought about partitions and the new update

The good news is that if you hold B to directly enter vWii mode during boot, you don't get the format prompt... That said, as others have mentioned -- there does not appear to be any additional changes in how the WiiU recognizes disks with the latest update.

Hacking wii menu 3.0 HBC still works

Smash Stack exploit requires a non-SDHC card. These are usually lower end, lower size, older cards. The only one I have that is non SDHC is a 2GB one from a bunch of years ago. Most new ones are SDHC and will not work for the exploit. My guess is that whoever said that meant to actually say...

Hacking Hacking the WiiU: A Simple Progress Guide

Not to piggyback on beano311, but he's correct. Not only is it not possible to have a .VHD mounted as a USB drive over a cable coming out of the PC (I looked, could not find an application that would emulate a USB client over USB with a VHD to a USB host), but even if it were, it would...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

I dunno, with how nice stuff looks in Dolphin at 1080p, I really would love to see someone hack the WiiU to upscale to 1080p :). WRT the DMCA, I don't disagree at all with the_randomizer or Rydian. DMCA is a piece of trash legislation that is so overblown and mispointed that it may as well...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

The PC is already capable of running third party applications -- we're talking about the legality of hacking a Wii in order to make it run third party applications. Modifying the code of Windows to skin it or to modify the tcpip.sys to solve the half-open connection does not "circumvent" access...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

Yes and no. You're correct that HBC itself does not circumvent copy protection in any way, as it must be run on an already exploited console and will not exploit the console itself -- however, based on the verbiage of the law, the actual act of using the Smash Stack exploit against the Wii /...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

No, they also addressed video game consoles. Quickest link I could find to the outcome: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/10/dmca-exemptions-rejected/ That said, I'm not saying this because I think they will ever go after people hacking their home consoles or anything, just that...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

I thought the recent ruling about DMCA exemptions in late 2012 made 'jailbreaking' home video game consoles illegal again? That alone wouldn't make HBC illegal (as the HBC itself doesn't exploit the system to run unsigned code, instead it relies on one of several exploits to do that for it)...

Hacking Idea: When Wii U is hacked, port a Wii emulator to it for HD Wii gaming

Surprisingly, many games on the Wii have higher resolution textures than the Wii was capable of displaying or rendering. This is fairly common practice (it also happened a lot on the PS2). You can verify this behavior if you run the games in Dolphin at the higher resolution. Not all games do...
