Xbox to offer digital licences with physical disc purchases

Ethical or not, it begs the question. How else could this work? In physical PC games that lack DRM, anyone can share the disc with their friends, passing it along to install on thousands of computers.

How we cover AI-assisted projects - GBAtemp community check-in

In a manner of speaking. The engineering side isn't what's controversial. For instance automated tools like web search engines require in essence rudimentary "intellect" to not run amok, returning useless results.

In this context, an "unethical" AI model was trained on data that was collected without permission.

Over-generalization is a factor. It may be consensus that AI has collected training data without permission. But to be pedantic, that doesn't prove a specific project used an unethical AI model.

A person can only decide for themselves. Opposing widespread technology requires a certain finesse as it were. Discovering that line between conviction enough to build support, or undermining the cause by being perceived as hostile.

People that disapprove of something are a fact of life. The silver lining is machines don't exactly overlook or forget. An AI can keep precise record of where it acquired the data it utilized to generate something. Human artists would be hard pressed to memorize that rigorously where they...

Case in point. Some things launch... half baked so to speak. Why once upon a time Steam was a laggy, ugly Counter-Strike launcher. Nowadays expect pitchforks if a publisher dares to first debut their game on another service instead.

I think transparency would be the optimal strategy for AI users, in the long run. Be so transparent that it separates truth from fiction regarding AI, thereby discrediting the toxic segment of critics.

Not that a person has to intentionally promote or condone AI. But we should be realistic about who *is* using it. Even software as omnipresent on the World Wide Web as Linux is, do not categorically prohibit AI. If you're browsing a website that runs Linux on their server, the site may be using...

The scenario tends to be oversimplified. Ethical objections to a game's AI use are just that. Like it doesn't mean the actual gameplay is bad.

Pokemon Yellow added to first generation recompilation library, voxel mod updated to support "3Dish battles"

That one colorizes the sprites. Red and Blue have a full colorization, updating the towns and routes absolutely curb stomping Gamefreak's pitiful "GBC support" in Yellow. https://romhack.ing/database/content/entry/W9Nu5JQBNs8FWu0CUlUb/pokemon-red-full-color-hack

Did no one ever make 720p TVs?

The shift to HD was odd times. A sub-class of "HD ready" sets weren't actual televisions (they contained no TV tuner or coaxial connector to even plug in an antenna).

Have an original playstation (rca cable and multi-av) and want to go HDMI.

The AV out is the easy part. PS1, PS2, and PS3 support the same RGB cables. (even in NTSC markets where it saw little use) Except I haven't kept up on what adapter is recommended today.

Low-level 3DS emulator 3Beans released alongside setup tutorial video

I have to hope accurate is a priority. Unsightly as it might be, the severe jaggies are inseparable from recreating the experience of playing games on 3DS hardware.

Paper Mario PC recompilation "ReCut" gets its first pre-release build

3DS has numerous advantages. Circle pad pro (analog control), wider top screen, much larger storage (try to imagine how many Pokemon boxes you could have, if it used the SD slot for a save file 32GB+)
