    There was the good old MKXP (https://github.com/Ancurio/mkxp) and it wouldn't surprise me if that powered the JoiPlay. It works on SDL so it could be feasable. Remember RPG Maker XP was a huge step up from RM 2k/3, and that was because of Ruby.
