Gaming Do you avoid old games that are only playable in 30fps or less?

Blur is amazing! I used to take some 360 controllers and my profile on a USB drive to my cousins at Christmas. We'd all play 4 player split screen for hours. If we had more than 4 people wanting to play, the winner would swap with someone not playing. Many of my favourite games of that...

Forza Horizon 6 leaks online after Steam preload data was uploaded without encryption

It really was the wild west! you might find this interesting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Underground I think they were responsible for the Gears 3 leak a few months before the game released, however I’m not 100% on that. Either way you have the context for these interviews below which...

Forza Horizon 6 leaks online after Steam preload data was uploaded without encryption

I think the Xbox 360 era really was the peak of games leaking early. It almost became the norm for high profile games to leak up to 3 weeks early. Then when it became possible for 360's to run unsigned code we had all these arcade games leaking that hadn't even been announced yet! Looking back...

Forza Horizon 6 leaks online after Steam preload data was uploaded without encryption

Nothing new there sadly, people were doing that 20 years ago back in 2006 when Gears of War leaked early on the Xbox 360. Even before that French version of Halo 2 leaked around 3 weeks before release, 100's of people we're playing that on Xlink Kai. Granted you couldn't get banned for playing...

Nintendo announces price increases across the board, set to come into effect from September in western regions

The Japanese language Switch 2 is the equivalent of £281 after the price increase, £104 cheaper than the Switch 2 currently is here in the UK with no price increase! If the Switch 2 is ever hacked and can be region changed that would be a worthwhile import, even paying import tax on top.

Emulation Hardware GBA Emulator Project USB C to GBA GC link cable

Is this something you plan to code? or are you just proposing the idea?

Where are the component price drops?

Its not a Google specific issue. Flash memory / ram order books are full through 2026 and extending well into 2027 sadly. OpenAI placed orders for up to 40% of the worlds supply, other rivals then did the same. So demand outpaces supply and nothing is available for the consumer market. Sadly...

ISFAHAX I cant backup my otp.bin

The sd card doesn't look to be write protected in that photo anyway. Try backing up anything important, then formatting the card. Its possible its got corrupted at some point. If that still doesn't work, the sd card could be starting to fail. I have seen this recently with an old usb drive I've...

Homebrew Homebrew app Project I ported Mac OS X to the Nintendo Wii

Amazing work! I love the photo on your blog of the Wii just casually plugged in on a plane, sat on the middle tray! I'll be sure to give this a go on my Wii when i get time.

The original classic Resident Evil trilogy is now available on Steam

I'm presuming the Enigma DRM means these will not work on Linux and in turn the Steam Deck... seems ridiculous for a 30 year old game! The bundle is currently £9.99 on GoG, seems the better investment depending how you wish to play: https://www.gog.com/en/game/resident_evil_bundle

Do remakes ever get it right?

Black Mesa is a good call. I think if you played the original Half-Life in the 90s, Black Mesa is probably more how you remember Half-Life looking at the time. I agree play both. You need to have played the original to fully appreciate Black Mesa in my opinion.

25th anniversary of GameBoy Advance. What are your best memories?

Coming from a GB Pocket the upgrade was amazing. The difference in quality between Super Mario Land 2 and Super Mario Advance was stunning at the time. I remember thinking it was really cool I could play multiplayer portion of the game with my friend by sharing the game over the link cable to...

Transfer save games from CFW Switch to original Switch lite possible?

The Switch has to check in with Nintendo to do a wireless transfer, so needs to be unbanned. If you can find an unbanned PRODINFO you can essentially do what is detailed in this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-transfer-saves-from-banned-switch-1.672069/ Realistically though any...

Do remakes ever get it right?

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver certainly did get it right, same with the Tomb Raider 1-3 remastered collection in my opinion. Both were faithful to the original but improved where it mattered.
