    I had been struggling over two weeks trying to figure this game out. Then I notice something on this thread: make sure syspatch is up to 1.5.9. When I reinstalled everything on my SD, I was at 1.5.8. Updated that, and voila. God, I'm such an idiot. Thank you, _illuminati!
