Pokemon Platinum PC port gets a surprise release

What you are describing is by definition not a clean room port. A clean room port is a port where the developers weren't influenced by the leaked code and can prove it. Past port projects for games with leaked code have outright stated that you can't contribute if you have ever seen the leaked...

Banjo: Recompiled is a fan-made port of Banjo-Kazooie on PC

None of the recomps have a Switch port as far as I am aware. The full blown ports that are built from decompilations (such as Ship of Harkinian, 2 Ship 2 Harkinan and the original Mario 64 port) do, but recompilations are more like wrappers around the original roms from what I understand, and...

Super Mario 64 gets a new PC port from the Harbour Masters team

Thank goodness for a port that you don't have to compile manually to update. Also the number of different PC ports is insane, especially if, like me, all you want is the vanilla game with higher resolution and framerate (maybe experimenting with mods, but not in a way that requires compiling it...

The Analogue 3D has been delayed yet again

I use it on real hardware with the controller in Switch mode and a BlueRetro adapter. The controller rumbles perfectly and the home button on the controller toggles between memory pak and rumble pak (although that is a feature of the Blueretro adapter). Since the N64 hardware simply doesn't...

Mario Kart World Direct - April 17 2025 - roundup

It's not too surprising when you consider that Rare was consistently the Donkey Kong developer at the time and it was during that generation that Rare and Nintendo parted ways.

PC port of Sonic Unleashed created by fans through recompilation project

The main thing I want to see is the Goldeneye XBLA prototype ported. It looked much better than what we got years later on the XBOX One and Series.

PC port of Sonic Unleashed created by fans through recompilation project

Probably not, at least not any time soon. The tools they developed can only recompile to systems with x86 (or compatible) processors, because that is what the 360 has (they explain this on the tool's github page). The Switch has an ARM processor. It also couldn't be ported to Wii U at the moment...

Nintendo DS emulator DraStic has been removed from the Google Play Store

I used to use it sometimes on my Wikipad back I the day. If I remember correctly DraStic was able to take advantage of the Mini HDMI port and send the top screen to that while displaying the bottom screen and allowing touch on the Wikipad.

GOG opens a new "Dreamlist" page to vote for your favourite games to bring back and preserve

This isn't new. It's just them rebranding and relaunching an existing feature. They even have the existing votes from when I voted using their old voting system.

Imagine If Stardew Valley Was Ported To DS/DSi

The Vita version lags hard whenever it rains and generally doesn't run that great. The 3DS is less powerful than the Vita, never mind the DSi or DS. It would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Stardew Valley as it is would never run on a DSi. Running it on a R36S requires you to zoom in...

Nintendo Music announced, offers soundtrack collections for Nintendo Switch Online users

It's there I just checked. When you select the game you have to press the All Tracks button instead of Top Tracks. They need to emphasise that button more, because otherwise it looks like lots of tracks are missing.

Game Freak has been allegedly hacked, with source codes for Pokemon games reportedly leaked

No, that completely breaks the clean room defense. That relies on the fact that no inspiration was taken from the real code whatsoever. Everything has to be recreated solely through reverse engineering.

Game Freak has been allegedly hacked, with source codes for Pokemon games reportedly leaked

If I remember correctly previous N64 decomp efforts specifically banned people from taking part if they had seen gigaleak code. If any inspiration is taken from the leaked source code the decomp is no longer "clean room" and therefore illegal. It would potentially completely destroy the...

Doom for SNES full source code released by former Sculptured Software employees

There is a homebrew GBA port that uses PrBoom to run the PC version. It is much better than the official GBA port. Although when playing on the Analogue Pocket with the Everdrive it suffers from random crashes that it doesn't on real hardware. I haven't tried OpenFPGA though, and there is...
