Nintendo issues DMCA takedown notices to Ryujinx forks on GitHub

Think that is just a placeholder for a signature as is accustom in legal documents.

Nintendo issues DMCA takedown notices to Ryujinx forks on GitHub

If they want to go after people redistributing (and sometimes even profiting off) pirated ROMs that is ultimately their prerogative. But I feel going after emulation as a concept is a different discussion. Dolphin existed in the heyday of the GameCube (and Wii) with integrated decryption keys...

Man arrested in Japan for selling modded Nintendo Switch consoles

In the context of this case? I would say giving the facts if he was actually involved with distributing pirated games as part of his 'business' he had it coming and was only a matter of time before being caught. Being in Brazil did not exactly save the Ryujinx project. Although the best I can...

Super Mario Party Jamboree has leaked online a week ahead of its official release

Nintendo ought to plug pre-release leaks rather than use emulators and homebrew as a scapegoat. Oh wait that is probably not the Japanese way.

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Not like Dolphin did not support GameCube and Wii games well when both consoles were commercially viable or anything.. Using similar arguments I am almost certain Nintendo could have caused them enough problems. Not all countries handle the absolute prohibition on backups of licensed content...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

There have been developers of other emulators who have managed to secure jobs at Nintendo in the past. But I was a skeptic too. Maybe once the dust settles he could try getting a job doing embedded development or similar in the industry.

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Some others are not as optimistic that was the outcome. https://x.com/carygolomb/status/1841859696686219380 Maybe if he was lucky he will get a job working on the next iteration of VC releases. :-D

Editorial GBAtemp Exclusive The Borders of Open Source Code: The Downsides, Legalities and Alternatives for Git repositories

Do not place third-party GitLab instances (that merely run the publicly available GitLab software) in the same bucket as the official GitLab.com service. Anyone can install the GitLab software and dictate whatever policies they deem acceptable. The GitLab company cannot do much about it.

Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

You mean the stamping out of Xecuter or something else?

Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

Release timing aside. Going to be hilarious if the Switch 2 is moddable with the PicoFly or similar solution.

The Switch Flashcart Thread (Mig Switch etc.)

People said the same thing about the SX chip and look what happened... Although the utility for a MIG is a lot less interesting because it merely allows running backups and not third-party code.

Nintendo has just released a new firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS

Somebody at Big N' got redfaced by new open-source Switch modchips and went on a blitz for the wrong console?. :D How cute

Nintendo reportedly issues DMCA takedown for Switch homebrew projects, Skyline Switch emulator development ceased

Wonder if someones jimmies got rustled by picofly and friends Because distributing copyrighted material that is for current purchase versus tools that assist on the loading of homebrew applications on your own device are totally the same thing...

DidYouKnowGaming wins counter-DMCA against Nintendo, "Heroes of Hyrule" video restored on YouTube

Excellent seeing further affirmation of fair-use principles. There is a bit of a difference between a company observing public activities in homebrew communities and perhaps sending takedowns for posting ROM files in copyright. Versus the escalation of using entrapment and other legal tactics...

The company behind Denuvo launches its "Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection", claims to "solve" Switch piracy

To get a glimpse of what these protections could be look to the Wii with the 'anti-counterfeit' protections of the HackMii installer and Homebrew channel. Could remember something about the loader for either having been able to observe the fact certain IOS APIs were not stubbed correctly in...
