    Perhaps I can inspect to see if something is out of place physically, then try a new microSD I guess. I'm losing hope but the absolute last resort is to try to replace the socket on the Motherboard. I really don't want to lose everything I have from this console.

    Yes, I can confirm I did it correctly. It's trivial to change it: a couple of screws and a plastic tool to lift the connector from the socket and it comes right off. Pic from iFixit for reference. I tried troubleshooting the same steps on both the old reader and the new one. Same results...
