    Name everything ff4.nds ff4.SAV (note the caps) and ff4.scc .. i've noticed the sc save system doesn't handle 'spaces' too well.

    You can make your own scc very easily, all you need is the codes which you can get with r4cce.exe and dat file. Or you could open up a usercheat.dat in r4cce.exe, re-label what you want, save then mass convert the new usercheat.dat to .dat's then .scc's. @The Experts... I wonder if it was...

    Hacking weird problem

    It sounds likely that it has. There is a way to check firmware on the ds including if it's running the flashme one. It involves taking out a ds cart while switched on in the main menu, the screen will go a particualr colour depending on the firmware.. you will have to google for more details...

    Unless the board was changed your DS should still be flashed. If it's not showing up at all , it's likely to be a contact problem, could the board not be seated properly ?
