Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

If there is a manufacturing delay (past December) Nintendo has no control of, I guess it could make sense to delay the release a little longer until Golden Week. If sales are unlikely to peak anywhere else in the world during Q1, they might as well take advantage of it. Still, there is one...

Name the Switch successor: what should Nintendo call its new console?

According to a thesaurus, it could be Substitute or Swap. :P Realistically, it will probably be the Switch 2. It just makes the most sense, unless they choose to give it a new name entirely.

Nintendo officially confirms Switch successor console, announces Nintendo Direct for next month

I love how Nintendo seems to be on track for another poorly timed release date. Apparently they can't comprehend the importance of releasing before December. If the new Switch is enticing enough, it should sell nicely. It just won't sell as nicely as it could have if released earlier.

    Why all hate NFTs?

It's more like COVID-related shortages destroyed the GPU market. Crypto mining exaggerated the problem, but it was not the cause. Crypto is starting to move away from GPUs. People are realizing that relying on energy-intensive computations is not a sustainable approach to crypto. Chia, for...

Former Nintendo developer shows off tech demo footage from Ocarina of Time that features portals

OK, now that is cool. I would have loved to see a concept like that in a Zelda game.

Gary Bowser from Team Xecuter pleads guilty to charges, agrees to pay Nintendo $4.5 million

This was bound to happen eventually. If you create and sell a device that is mostly designed for piracy, you're basically doomed from the start. It is disappointing that this may be the end of newer-gen Switch hacking. At least from what I understand, their modchip was the only way to hack newer...

Homebrew Super Mario World widescreen mod available now

That's the point I was trying to make. I was showing how much better the Brazilian modded ROM is in comparison to bsnes-hd's widescreen mode. :)

Homebrew Super Mario World widescreen mod available now

The widescreen mode in bsnes-hd was already neat, but this really takes it to another level! For those unfamiliar with bsnes-hd's widescreen mode, here's a video. It's a little buggy (stuff disappears on the sides), which is why I say this new rom hack is an improvement.

Five Nights At Freddy's creator, Scott Cawthon, has retired from game development

Right, nothing was explicitly stated with words. I was just saying that those posts were unclear enough that they could easily be misinterpreted. As is typical for me, I probably misinterpreted them in the worst way possible. I've accepted that possibility.:)

Five Nights At Freddy's creator, Scott Cawthon, has retired from game development

I probably misunderstood the posts I've read. I've quoted examples from the first 3 pages. To me, they are vague enough that they sound like they mostly approve of this situation (including the harassment and threats). Even your first post in this thread sounded that way to me.

Five Nights At Freddy's creator, Scott Cawthon, has retired from game development

It's interesting (and also horrifying) seeing how ridiculous people in this thread are being. Some of you even seem to be happy Scott Cawthon had death threats against him. At least in my book, a death threat is as bad as actual murder. No matter which side I look at this situation from, the...

Mario Party 64 romhack sees classic Mario Party boards get turned into platforming levels

Technically, putting games on your Everdrive requires a computer. You want to play the game on the real hardware. I get that. I'm just saying that doesn't mean you don't still have the opportunity to play the game in an emulator instead.

Mario Party 64 romhack sees classic Mario Party boards get turned into platforming levels

Being used to Super Mario 64 rom hacks that just recycle pre-existing mechanics and animations, this blew my mind. Looks like somebody has been playing with the decompiled code! That guy deserves a serious chunk of cash.

Is it possible for a PC to run a outdated OpenGL version even though the driver has been updated ?

I feel your pain. I used a 2006 Mac Mini for several years which maxed out at OpenGL 2.1 (Linux) or 1.4 (Mac/Windows). I didn't use Linux in those days, so I was stuck with 1.4. A lot of 3D software didn't work on it as a result. The built-in graphics in the Westmere series Intel processors...

    Cloud gaming: are you interested?

Ok... so there are three problems with this concept, which is why I think it will only be useful for a (relatively speaking) small number of people. Latency. Compression. (Sorry, real time video compression usually just burns my eyes.) Bandwidth. (If you aren't fortunate enough to live in...
