    Since I'm new to this... 1) Will Nintendo to try to force the update? 2) Even if #1, can I just turn off Wifi and not update to 11.3 unless the guide is updated to address any issues with it? I'm fine being on 11.2 and staying offline if that's what we should do

    Yeah, unfortunately I saw that. Thought it was strange to see but yeah I have an old 3ds as it's one my niece hasnt been using. Not sure I want to spend $200 to get a new one :) I looked at the compatibility lists - looks like they have issues with the games? Though not clear if the issues...

    Just curious if games like... Zelda Metroid Flashback will all work well on the old 3ds xl. It seems like DSTwo is the better option but not sure I want to spend $50 on it (assuming it's actually in stock)

    I went through the guide over the weekend to get CFW installed and patched to 11.2. I remember reading that this type of hack is great because it's low level and we can update firmware So quickly things have changed, though, it seems. If I never go online, do I need to worry about 11.3...

    That's fine. I'll locate a flash card. Advice heard :) But still trying to understand CFW - I think I read that the 3ds xl has 4gb of internal memory. Does this mean you could only load one 3ds backup at a time (size permitting)?

    Ok thanks guys I did mean NDS games not 3DS. When you guys say internal SD card does that mean the expandable? I just liken internal to how Android labels its memory and internal is not via an actual sd card but internal memory. Considering the fact that the 3ds has limited storage space

    I had trouble with an order of 3ds flash card for nds and came on here to see if there were any recommended sellers. While doing that, it seems like custom firmwares are now available and seem painless to install - is this a way to not having to use flash cards or do you still need a flash...

    Do you mean a hack to play 3ds roms? But wouldn't an update also disable flashcards like the r4?

    I think I read that Nintendo will automatically update the system if there is an update available. Sounds like it makes sense not to leave the 3DS online?
