Nice thread. I am not very familiar with the shmup genre, but I think Grid Wars should be added, that helped tide me over till the DS Geometry Wars release.

Glad to see I'm not the only person around here hoping for a genre revival. Hey, classic point-and-click adventures came back...

CHO REN SHA 68K is one of the greatest shooters on the PC.

All the Kenta Cho games are gems, Torus Trooper and rRootage being my favorites. Warning Forever is a classic. End Effector definitely one of the best shmups with 3D graphics.
