Ok sometimes I yearn for the old school platform games that i played on my NES console. But then again i need something with good graphics and nice touches so here it is.

Quest for finding the best new platform games for DS.

Of course games like castlevania series, new super mario bros and megaman series are in but what else?

Here's my personal list of great DS platformers-

Giana Sisters DS
Kirby Super Star Ultra (remake of SNES game, new graphics and levels)
Kirby Squeak Squad (not the best Kirby game, still solid though)
Henry Hatsworth
Legendary Starfy (Kirby-like, but with ocean levels)
Super Princess Peach (ignore any overly cute things, it's solid)
Yoshi's Island DS

Of course, the ones you listed. Also keep an eye on the new Sonic Classics Collection (Sonic 1-3 + Knuckles), and Megaman Zero Collection (MMZ 1-4).

Yes, I'm serious!

Super Princess Peach is awesome...I played this game!

I also like platformers, but I haven't found many for the DS. Kirby Canvas Curse is really good though.

Edit: For a fun challenge, give this puzzle platformer a try http://www.pdroms.de/files/620/

Yeah Sorry I forgot to mention Kirby. This Multi-power Pillow is one of my favorites. Played the 2-3 Kirby's games.
I didn't like very much canvas curse. It's more like a puzzle game. Also Played Yoshi's Island

I'm adding Wario master of Disguise to the list. Any japanese platformer translation?

Not sure if this counts, since you said "action" platformer, but how about Metal Slug? That's a classic one that plays real well on the DS.

Yeah It's in I played all of 'em.
Wii also have the Anthology that has many of them bundled.

Still missing a castlevania - kirby style where your character get's a ton of incredible powers.

QUOTE(Arctic @ Feb 2 2010, 02:35 PM) Why hasn't anyone said N+ yet? That game was great!

My suggestion:
If you're looking for oldschool platforms, go grab Retro Game Challenge. I adore this game. I played through each game over and over again. I'm an oldschool junkie (game wise, not like ludes or anything. Hmm... about 7 other people on this board may get that joke. mthr, dear god poke your head in here) and Retro Game Challenge filled that craving VERY well.

It even has fake Nintendo Power type mags in there... you'll have to check it out to understand. Classic.
