Thanks on the Made in Abyss cheats.
I will second some of
@Nazosan's feedback bye saying there's a bit
too much depression in this Abyss. For example, I came out of the third layer, poked my nose out the wall, and just... fell over dead in one hit. There's a quest to fight Hozen and she tosses you into the air and obliterates you at the point your hunger bar. Inventory management is
excessive with your gear taking up 50-70% of your inventory space. Durability is trash when you can only ever get a single Animal Bone from things, and "better" gear takes fishing which can only happen in a few limited spots. But oh wait, stuff keeps spawning on you unless you're fresh into a zone, meaning you aren't
allowed to peacefully fish.
So, you can't restore your equipment, you run out of equipment then you run out of food, you run out of food then you can't attack anything at all, you run out of
salt (which I made the mistake of forgetting this time) then you can't even cook most of the stuff you find. It's just... torture. Yeah, it's halfway meant to be. Hopeless, depressing, unforgiving and full of death.
But damnit to hell, I can't even enjoy exploring with strategy when you're demanding I carry 20 torches with me through a forever-dark cave (Riku had a flashlight helmet, where'd that go?? Give me that feature back!) which takes up too much inventory to even be feasible.
I've got a full set of the best gear possible, most of my stats are in great shape, and I can't even make it through Layer 3. It would be one thing if we could 'escape' when swapping from Layer to Layer, but nope! Gotta run all the way back up, every hole-damned time.
I absolutely do not feel guilty "turning off" the hunger thing, and boosting item durability. I was able to extend the life of my tools by having variety, bringing them to "almost broken" and then swapping to something else - durability is restored when returning to town - but everything layered on top of each other it just becomes aggravating to no end.
I made it to midway through Layer 3 without cheats. Then I screwed up and got stranded with 0 hunger and nothing to kill that gives non-cook stuff (eggs or tail meat, basically) - so I was just flat stuck after a long expedition. Yes, that's the type of scenario the game is trying to portray about the universe, but every damned weapon has the same fragility and it just gets eaten up within minutes...
Oh well. At least now I can continue. I feel bad for non-hacked console owners, though...
