Browsing the switch via android phone MTP

Connecting my switch via MTP with my phone works fine but I can only use the integrated explorer.
Anyone has any idea how to force it to use another file explorer like ES. or how can I access the path using the aforementioned app. Thanks a lot.

Still won't prompt me to use it nor can I find the path.

What's wrong with integrated? I am using it for all operations like save backup or game installing.

It works but apps like ES are much more convenient and would save a lot of time, I can open two paths and swap in between with a swipe rather than navigate all the way every time.

They can be convenient but not works with MTP. So, it is up to you what to use. I am using my own file manger.

My xiaomi phone only have a "photo downloader" app what can be launched when a MTP device is connected so I like an alternative, Total Commander for Android doesn't work (Windows version does)

Use the usb mounting feature of Nyx through hekate

I do this all the time to transfer files from my iPad or android phone

The only downside is that you can’t safely eject the device like it asks which confuses hekate a bit after you unplug the cable (causes mine to freeze) but I’ve never had an issue with my files

That's a good option but sometimes you don't want to reset your console, y have FTPd and can send and receive files on background, but DBI's MTP mode is a great tool.

Disconnects after 10 seconds or less for some reason. And after 3 tries it kept giving me the "Waiting for LUN" then "Timeout or canceled".

On another note, there doesn't seem to be much info about connecting androids to the switch. I think I'll just keep using the integrated for now. Thanks a lot.

I’ve found that the cable/OTG adapter I use matter a lot. With a straight usb C > usb C cable being the fastest and most stable

I am using the Oculus quest 2 link cable which is also c to c. But I will try with another OTG and see if it fixes that issue.

Coincidenctly also I tried with my oculus cable at first and had issues but once I moved to an anker one I was in good shape

I think with the introduction of scoped storage in android 11, you would need root access to use any file manager other than the integrated one.

After hours of digging, I have finally found a good app which does exactly what I want and more.
It may as well be of use to you, it's called "Mixplorer". You can find it on XDA for free.

Moving ES to the priv-apps folder should make it work. However MiXplorer is a much better file manager anyway.
