Wii vs Wii emulator?

Which do you prefer and why? I think at this point in time if you have a decent PC an emulator is better because it can render games at higher resolutions.

Depends. I prefer emulators when it comes to graphics and ease of use. I don't have a CRT so composite video signals look pretty bad for me on modern TVs. But I prefer the original hardware when it comes to the controllers and generally that nostalgic feeling of messing around with the console itself.

I still prefer to play on my Wii over using Dolphin. Can't really tell you why I prefer it there's just something that isn't the same on Dolphin that ruins it for me, even with all the fancy improvements disabled and while using a Dolphin Bar.

I'm with you.

My current setup is RVL-001 in Black through HD Retrovision Component Cables, adapted to HDMI with an "AVerMedia Component (YPbPr) to HDMI Output (ET113)" and fed into an AVerMedia Live Gamer HD 2. Outputs to both OBS and passthru to my monitor.

And Wii is not the only console involved in my setup, of course, I also have a PS2 and GameCube w/ Game Boy Player set up similarly, and a Switch OLED feeding into the capture card as well.

Nothing is quite the same as playing games on the actual hardware they're designed for. I'm a bit of an accuracy snob, and that definitely helps influence my opinions.

I could care less about graphics being rendered in higher resolution & I can play on my couch right in front of my television. It is nice having the option though.

Dolphin bar is kind of slow/laggy. Other M is frustrating enough without piling laggy controls on top. I haven't gotten the right adapter to try that bluetooth passthrough mode but outside of that, motion controls are bad enough that I'd rather deal with that ugly-ass OG hardware. If you can find a widescreen CRT or one of the many WEGAs that offers a 16:9 mode that is kind of ideal.

There's some minor glitch in early Wii models that slightly degrades 480p output, be sure you are using a loader with the fixes applied.
