""""Value-Added Services"""" :rofl2:

They didn't say who's adding value to whom

This isn't really surprising that they're already in development on a "new console". They always plan new consoles as soon as the current gen consoles releases. It's not like they go completely dormant for some years before starting back up. The same goes for Sony and Microsoft, too.

Just more a matter of when and what it is. And I heavily doubt about the whole March 2022 thing.

This is as vague as it can get. Without mentioning that's it way too soon for them to announce anything with the recent release of the OLED Switch, it's the equivalent of shooting themselves in the foot, even if they'll just say until 2023 or something.

The entire graphic is just things we already know. The value added services growing is the NSO expansion pass, the growing IP are their forays into the amusement theme park, that action movie with crispy rat and friends, the Lego collab, and similar. The fact that they're working on a new system is also a given at any time since R&D takes literal years, but considering they had to lower their production target by 20% this fiscal due to difficulties sourcing the required parts I highly doubt they'll announce a new console directly on March next year. Maybe late next year when Nintendo is more confident they can actually deliver a new product in the quantities they'd like we'll start hearing announcements.

The way that I see it, with the chip shortage and everything going on, as long as the Switch is just powerful enough that new cross-platform games can be ported to it, even with drastically reduced lighting and textures, they can coast on the Switch's portability and get away with not releasing a new console.

If anything, the way they're handling the Switch versions of the Kingdom Hearts collections, being streamed to the console rather than a traditional game cart or digital download, that may be their way of gently testing the waters to see if game streaming is a feasible method to extend the lifespan of the Switch. Like, stream a game that they know the Switch could most likely handle natively, and if it functions well enough, stream games in the future that are too difficult for the Switch to normally run. So, future titles would be a combination of down-graded PS5 ports and streamed PS5 ports that the Switch can't run by itself. That would probably push the lifespan of the console a few more years beyond what they'd normally consider a cut-off date.

That DS aspect of this supposed next system is curious. But I think I can wrap my head around what it might be. Perhaps the next system is essentially a Switch 2 (in fact, I'd bet on it, though it may not go with that moniker), a more powerful and more capable Switch. The original Switch is already a huge success with nearly 100 million units sold, it could be the goal that the Switch 2 will make use of the idea that a sizable portion of the new system's install base already owns some form of the original Switch, and Nintendo will build functions around that idea.

Essentially they could add in Wii U GamePad style functionality where available, have your first Switch acts as a second screen GamePad for your docked Switch 2, have them wirelessly connect and function together. I imagine the 'Switch 2' will output in 4k, and your Switch 1 gamepad would of course be restricted to 720p, but since that screen would be in handheld anyway, I don't think the lack of resolution in handheld while the main screen is 4k would be a major issue. Of course 2 screen functionality would always have to just be optionally implemented as they can't bank on every owner of the new system to have the old one, but I think enough people will have both devices to make it a function worth building optional gameplay around, be it small things like always on maps and on the fly inventory management, giving a second player their own screen (without needing to have bought a second copy of the game in question), or clever asymmetrical gameplay control schemes that could benefit from it, (it isn't hard to see New Pokemon Snap get a patch that makes it play brilliantly with a second screen, and to retain the Mario Maker 1 design style over MM2 would really be appreciated.)

I dunno, maybe people aren't as crazy about 2 screen gaming as I am, but I do love it in practice, including on the Wii U, and this rumor's mention of possible connectivity like a Wii and DS just gets my mind thinking of what that might mean, and this kind of makes sense in a very Nintendo way. Plus I seem to remember a datamine of the Switch awhile ago that did suggest that a theoretical 2 screen model of the Switch was at least at some point in development. Maybe this is what they were actually planning for in this regard.

only true idiots believe this shit cause nintendo obviously is going to release another console before 2024 but speculation works for individuals with low iq until they think they prove something when mighty nintendo appears announcing their shit

Are you saying you are an idiot?

Supposedly on March 2022, a new console will be revealed. It is spoken of as a switch, but also in the likes of a Wii, and DS, maybe cross compatible. It is also confirmed that you can link your current Nintendo Account with it. The anticipation of the Switch’s 5th anniversary may bring more excitement than we thought…View attachment 283441
I just wish that if they're making a home console the specs should be on par with PS5 & Series S/X.

Because while something like the Wii U wasn't a bad console it even had specs so terrible that even the 7 year old Xbox 360 back then could play better.

Not saying it's the only example but I just really want to show that (at least) with their most recent consoles Nintendo is leagues behind of hardware power compared to the competition.
