You can't run VMs on a linux wii.
Maybe Qemu could theoretically emulate an x86 computer. Slower than a snail. 100% unusable.

If your only goal is playing Plants vs. Zombies have a look a the Wikipedia page. The game was released on a variety of platforms (not Wii) and chances are you own another device capable of playing the game.

For getting started with Linux, I would suggest another device as well. Much easier on a PC or a Raspberry Pi.

Sorry for the negative reply, but your request can't be fulfilled.

Good luck and have fun!

Seeing as there are methods of running flash games on wii you might be able to get this unreleased flash version running on it. (the game file isn't on this page, you're gonna have to find it yourself)
This or some of the guides made by the same person may help.
Just a guess to try and point you in the right direction, I've never done this before so only try if you're willing to troubleshoot. (as you should anyway when doing anything wii homebrew)

also, is there any way to run pvz on a Wii?
IDK why, it's just a goal that randomly sprouted in my brain and it is my goal to either run pvz or lego island on a wii

Lego Island is more plausible than XP, but I still wouldn't bother:

The system requirements for Lego Island are:
Operating system (OS)9598
Processor (CPU)Intel Pentium 120 MHz
System memory (RAM)16 MB32 MB
Hard disk drive (HDD)20 MB
Video card (GPU)Direct3D-compatible

I tried Jazz Jackrabbit 1 (DOS game) inside DOSBox on a Wii. Is was... a little bad to somewhat okay. Not a nice experience. That game runs flawlessly on a 80486 CPU with 66Mhz and might even be playable on 80386@33MHz.
A DOS game, no Windows 9x involved and it was barely okay.

It might be worth a try throwing Windows 95 into DOSBox but I don't think it will be a pleasure to use this. I doubt running the game (at acceptable speed if at all) will work.
