Hello,

so for some reason since yesterday I have been seriously thinking of buying an xbox series s.
don't know why, I have never owned an xbox before and I'm all about those playstation exclusives even though the last sony console I had was a ps3.
maybe it's because of black friday coming and I have to fulfil my capitalistic consumer urges or maybe because forza horizon 5 and the next halo are some games I'm really looking forward to.

thing I wanted to ask though is about using an external hdd to play the games from.
can I have the hard drive already formatted so it can be used by my laptop too or will it have to be in a form that is only supported by the xbox?

thanks.

I believe the xbox and the laptop use the same format I am not too sure.

Nope. It will not work. In order to install games on external you have to format your HDD under XBOX and then it will not be recognizable under your PC.

Can confirm this.

Also, if using a USB HDD you can only play Xbox One, 360 and OG Xbox from it - in order to play games optimised for the Series S you’ll need the official expansion unit.
