everything seems to be installed just the same aside from the EMMC and that's what the alt Point are for.
one-point seem to be problematic and that's Point C and D I don't know where D is going, I don't think you need to completely remove the EMC to install it though.
ill be doing this install my self maybe ill wait for Atmos support to be fully added before doing so

Other points looks easy enough. Except C. Is there an alternative point ? Do we have to remove the emmc for C ?

Has anyone tried it yet. I have the chips and OLED.

I'm betting you can run hot air on emmc and just tuck your jumper wire into place without pulling emmc. I have chips and an oled switch on standby I might give this a try this weekend. If I end up having to reball emmc it wont be the end of the world.
yup you should be able to. I'm just just going to use my hot iron to heat he the wire and just it push it in, that's what I did on the corona Xbox 360

well, we'll have to know how far we should push in and the correct "spot" for placing the wire.
also, I wonder if there's any way of knowing whether your wire is at the right ball or not.

I doubt that this will work.
The eMMC chip is much bigger than the ball grid array, i.e. the DAT0 ball isn't at the edge of the chip.

well I can try using a needles that why I don't have to worry about it bending
Yes, maybe something like a needle but soft like a copper wire... The left side of the tip insulated with nail enamel, on the right side some silver conductive, then clamp the 'needle' between the C ball and ball next to it!? I.e. silver conductive glue to the C point? Probably a mess and not reliable ;)

But it's even worse, that there isn't an easy way to take a backup of the eMMC. If something goes wrong, the whole switch is for parts... First desirable step after desoldering would be to dead-bug the eMMC (solder some wires to it and to an eMMC reader, then take a proper backup). Just in case, I guess reballing isn't an easy task without equipment.

If there isn't another point for C on the board, ninty did it very well this time...

here is the clearance you have to work with on the switch's emmc, with a hobby knife blade for comparison. even a strip of printer paper is a friction fit.. good luck

Googling at EMMC pinouts, seems that most likely the two corner balls are NC, so no worry if you short those. If that's the case, it would be little easier to make the adapter, because no need that much tolerance.

True that what I'm Thinking too. How do you know how far it goes and which balls. Emmc balls are tiny

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
