I'm actually legit curious about what this is, mainly because I read somewhere else "maybe this is just preparation and then they'll start banning a lot of people like in the 3DS" which seems unlikely but still lol. I'm really questioning why would this happen, asides from preparations to Mario Maker's unability to upload levels after March 31st.

Only some SSL cert verifiy function:

For iosu, some ssl-cert verify related function now accepts enum values 0x14, 0x1B (previously 0xB/0xC/0xF/0x10).

There's x509 lookup logic in the 0x14 case.

There may, of course, be changes in other OSv10 modules, but not in IOSU.

Maybe for the eShop or other online services, so that they still work when/if Nintendo changes some certs. Nintendo won't ban anyone on the Wii U, trust me lol

"Accidentially" is the Magic Word.
But I think Wii U Users are a little smarter than many Switch Users.

The only "Issue" that maybe can happen and I can imagine is to update from an (very) lower Version as 5.5.3x maybe...

Mine was on 5.5.4 before I've installed CHBC. I'll wait a little longer before connecting the console to the internet again.

Bans on the wii u are very unlikely.

The thing is, how is it possible to "accidentally" press the update button? There are dns blockers in the wild for a good reason.

well, if I use DNS blocking

DNS block means, you don't get any updates from nintendos servers. You can't use the eshop except you use the nnu patcher. This allows you to use it. And online play works. Without the nnu patcher ofc.

Read the second post. All exploits still works. Nothing were patched here.

Guys, either my external SD is defective, or the update screwed me big time. Whenever the Wii U tries to load a file there, it fails. Haxchi works because it is already installed, but browser hack, nintendon´t and wup installer don't work anymore.

I am copying the content to another SD card and will try using this new card. After loading haxchi, when trying to load nintendo´nt (and gamecube games) as well as wup installer, it says it couldn't find dol file. When trying using browser exploit, it says i may need to format my sd card to FAT 32.

Update installed automatically. I didn't know this was a thing. I remember i'd manually installed Update 5.5.3. Not sure why this time it self updated while at stand by.

Then do this? FAT32 is the only file system which the wii u can read iirc.

Yes... but i had always used this sd without issues. It was already a fat 32 file format.

wii u has always automatically installed updates unless blocked.

Tried two different sd cards... Same issues. Sd card will not load anything.

That's weird. I updated to 5.5.5 (from 5.5.4) earlier with CBHC and haven't noticed anything different as of yet, everything seems to work fine.

Are you sure it's not something on your end? Are you preparing/formatting your SD cards correctly?

Can you please tell me the best software and configurations for a proper sd formatting? Is it possible to test if my wii u can still read sd cards at all?

Everything is working as it should, BUT the sd card.

I am using 8GB/16GB mini sd cards with an adapter.
