Supermodel emulation on Nintendo Switch, running under L4T Ubuntu. Supermodel is great emulator of one of the most famous Sega`s Arcades, the Model 3.

Based on the Supermodel emulator and the EmulationStation frontend:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/model3emu/
https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation

The emulator run only on L4T Ubuntu. More info here:

So.. It's an emulator for Linux? Not the Switch?
Yes, for Linux. It runs on Switch using L4T Ubuntu.

Always nice to see another emulator. Any reason you didn't try porting it to Horizon?
The Linux port is all i could do. I'm not familiar with the development of homebrews for Horizon.

What makes it specific to the Switch? Genuinely curious.
The controls mostly. With a few tweaks on the code, this can be run on others AARCH64 devices running Linux that meet the hardware requirements of the emulator.

Seems like L4TU 3.3.0 may have broken this? I just set up a fresh install and I can't get the Supermodel app to open.

Whoa! I was having a hard time setting up supermodel 3 on Ubuntu on my switch. Installed this package and opened to it even recognizing my roms. Thanks

It was not easy but I finally got it running.
My ubuntu install is based on bionic, which resulted to be a bit old for this and gave me some headaches, resorting to cherry-pick libstdc++6 from ubuntu focal (and some associated packages) because of a few missing symbols, but ultimately the emulator did run flawessly. If installed from zero, please do not use ubuntu bionic but something newer instead. Also, I recommend launching it from the command line, /usr/bin/supermodel-nx in order to debug and solve any problem that could arise.
There are 24 supported games. The README lists only 23 of them, being vf3tb the one missing.
Another error in the README: scud race plus is listed as scudp but shoud be scudplus.
Should be as follows
| dayto2pe | Daytona USA 2 Power Edition |
| daytona2 | Daytona USA 2 Battle on the Edge |
| dirtdvls | Dirt Devils |
| eca | Emergency Call Ambulance |
| fvipers2 | Fighting Vipers 2 |
| harley | Harley Davidson & L.A. Riders |
| lamachin | L.A. Machineguns |
| lemans24 | Le Mans 24 |
| lostwsga | The Lost World |
| magtruck | Magical Truck Adventure |
| oceanhun | The Ocean Hunter |
| scud | Scud Race |
| scudplus | Scud Race Plus |
| skichamp | Ski Champ |
| spikeofe | Spikeout Final Edition |
| spikeout | Spikeout |
| srally2 | Sega Rally 2 |
| swtrilgy | Star Wars Trilogy (Rev. A) |
| vf3 | Virtua Fighter 3 |
| vf3tb | Virtua Fighter 3 Team Battle |
| von2 | Virtual On Oratorio Tangram |
| vs2 | Virtua Striker 2 (Step 2.0) |
| vs298 | Virtua Striker 2 '98 (Step 2.0) |
| vs2v991 | Virtua Striker 2 '99.1 |
These games, compressed in zip with those short names, shoud be put in
/media/user_name/SWITCH SD/ROMS/Model3/
being user_name the standard limited user in the ubuntu installation, and "SWITCH SD" just a subdirectory, not a mountpoint from the fat32 partition. All these files are stored in the linux partition. A few free GB should suffice.
All these roms are the same that those in the full mame romset, but smaller specific bundles for supermodel3 are floating around in the internet.
Home this helps somebody.
