Found this switch modchip pcb, requires self assembly, trinket m0 based clone, by someone named stratos

it costs roughly $5 per pcb, for 3 pcbs BOM cost of $15 usd fully assembled

Alternatively you can get the RCMX86 from aliexpress... just saying.
If we can find something like that but that replaces sx core and sx lite then we are business. There are just too many v2 in the market now and v1 are getting expensive.

One mod chip for 100usd, or just assemble 3 for $15usd

Rcmx86 is technically the same thing, it's still based on a trinket m0

You get 3 pcbs's for 1.20 usd, and it cost about 13.80 in parts to fully assemble all 3

Right, if a modchip were to cost 100$ sure but RCMX86 is about 9$

that's why I mentioned it.

Yeah I just saw that

The $10 one only shows is you select low to high cost, gotta ask how many paid 100 usd for the rcmx86

Well I guess it just goes to ye olde offer and demand rule but hey nothing stops you from buying the 9$ one hahahaha it is crazy how overpriced stuff can get. Not long ago I bought 5 of those for about 25$ directly from a guy in tindie but he seems to be out of stock now. Anyways, not taking credit away from your post, it is a cool thing for hobbiest sure but if you can get the RCMX86 you save the hassle of soldering all the components, etc. But more options are always welcomed!

Well they don't even ship to North Korea, beside even if they do shipping would be like $16. It is much easier for people to use pre assembled SAMD21 modchips like the Trinket M0, and Rebug Switchme.

.

You probably could get the price down to $3-4 or so for a fully assembled board, you get a mod chip that's manufactured and assembled In the usa (well if decided to pre assemble a bunch of them) using quality parts, and not in a Chinese sweatshop, possibly using fake/reject chips/parts and cheap solder

I hope you don't seriously believe I live in north korea

Btw osh park has free shipping

Digikey it's 4.99 if it's First class

The option is there, so if nintendo goes after more mod chips, you can now build your own, youre ordering a blank pcb, it does nothing out the box....

Regardless where you live, still not like you will be getting it for 5 dollars per modchip, you still have to account for the shipping price, beside you can just use a Trinket M0, so why people would bother to go with other chip. I have seen people install RCMX86, Trinket M0, Rebug Switchme, I mean I never seen installed any of the one you talked in the opening post. I owned a few hard modded switch and most people prefer Trinket M0 over any of the other chip on the market.

3 pcbs cost 1.20 usd shipping is free

It cost 13.80 usd for all the parts needed to assemble 3 pcbs, plus 4.99 usd shipping from digikey

1.2 + 13.8 + 4.99 = 19.99 usd for 3 fully assembled modchips

20 ÷ 3 ≈ 6.67
It cost roughly $6.70 per per chip

Basic math

This also includes the 32k ram 256k flash version chip

Well have fun soldering, and getting the software, don't think there are hekate.uf2 for that chip out there.

What made you think those uf2 would work, I mean there is specific uf2 for each chip. Mattytrog never made one for the one you listed. Get one working and then we would believe you though. It is like all talk no work.

ATSAMD21E18

ATSAMD21G18

Same chip it'll work, the only difference one is a 32 pin package (e18), the other is a 48pin (g18)

I really would love to to hear your reason why it won't work

Sure get one working and I will believe you

If you don't want it cool, I wasn't brought into this world to impress you

It's obvious that you don't know how to read datasheets and part numbers because an atmel ATSAMD21 is an atmel ATSAMD21, as long as the part number matches the chip will work, it's an off the shelf microcontroller that cost 1-2usd a piece

It's an alternative it's there as an option for people who have the skills necessary nothing more nothing less

I wouldn't be bluffing if I didn't own few hard modded switches, base on what I have seem from the wiring diagram and uf2 software that mattytrog provided there isn't one for your chip that you link. I mean you have to take a look at how small that SAMD21 is, you sure you want to do tiny soldering. That why people prefer already assembly modchip.

It's an adafruit trinket m0 clone, uses the same exact chip

You would use the same files as you would for a trinket

That's just a package variation you can get it as a tqfp32, which I can solder

My point exactly you see how small the board is you sure you want to do micro soldering. I mean these are usually done by machine with instead not by hand soldering.

Smd isn't that bad, it is possible by hand, those pins aren't bad, way better than a tsop chip

I've done plenty of soldering, you'd be surprised what you can solder by hand if your patient, and have a constant supply of soldering flux..
