SNK has recently released some old NeoGeo Pocket games on the Nintendo Switch. They are clearly using a great emulator with some unique features like link cable emulation for local multiplayer. I was wondering if there is a way to extract the emulator from these releases and port it to PC for those awesome features. Has anyone looked into this? Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where to ask.

You can't really port a binary (it's technically possible but difficult and rarely done). You could run the game on a Switch emulator like Yuzu tho. Maybe it could play other roms using layeredfs or other hacking.

That is an interesting thought. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

FWIW I had a quick look in the romfs, and the ngpc rom files (Japanese and English) were right there in a game folder, didn't try swapping them for another game tho.
