Hi guys. I have been out of the Switch hacking loop for a while so please bare with me. I have 2 Switches: One is for sure hackable, and the other not sure. The hackable one is on System FW 5 or 6 something, and the other is on latest FW. On the hacked one, I have wifi off and in airplane mode, and uses a gmail address for Nintendo account, while the other Switch has a Nintendo Account with my Hotmail/outlook email address. On my hacked switch, I have kept it offline ever since I started doing hacking, which is primarily save editing. On my hacked Switch, since it is on a low FW, I feel that I am missing out on newer games such as doing save edits on "Yoshi Crafted World", "Final Fantasy XII", etc. I also really want to try save editing with Pokémon SW/SH with PKHex. I have a bunch of questions before I proceed:

- Is it worth still hacking my hacked switch?
- Do I need SX OS?
- Do I need to create an EmuNAND?
- What CFW should I go with? When I last injected payload and such, the logo that came up was ReiNX, but am not sure which version I have of it
- How should I get games? Physical or Digital?
- If Physical, how do I go about doing updates?
- How do I get up to certain System FW for CFW and newer games?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated :)

Ok added numbers in your message to answer
1. Well only you can decided if it's worth it
2. No. Free versions are just as good or better
3. If it's staying offline i wouldnt bother just backup your nand
4. Atmosphere is what you should get. Also get the Sig patches (Found on this forum) to play backups
5. Up to you man. How ever you want to get them.
6. Places that host digital forms of the games also host the updates. Google this as this is not condoned here as it's piracy
7. Google and you can get an home brew that can update your system.

Thank you so much Kafluke! Can you help me with all of this? Am not sure how to proceed with everything. Any help appreciated :)
I like to keep things simple and TX does all that for me. I have three hacked switches and I bought TX OS for all of them. Its clean, and super easy.

I use emunand and keep a clean sysnand. autoRCM and just put it to sleep on the dock when I'm done.

There are people who dont like TX cause they stole code and didnt give credit but I dont care. I never have sigpatch errors and blue screens and stuff like people who choose to use Atmosphere

Thanks for the info. Is TX easy to use and order? Do I need to use credit card for order? I prefer to use Paypal to order TX if possible.

Hi i´m a little noob on the switch stuff. I have some questions if you could help me out. First i´m using a offline emunand with atmosphere but i can´t run the new games like Pokemon Shield. I´m on emunand 8.1.0 with atmosphere 0.9.2. Do i need to upgrade emunand to 9.0.0 and atmosphere to 0.9.4 or i just need to update atmosphere? And how can i do the updates?

Update the emunand using choidejournx and then delete all your atmos files and folders off the SD. Replace with latest files and sig patches

I would like help with this also, really want to play the new Pokémon games and use PkHex...

Well, I know there is the TX method. But, you did say it is hard to find a seller, and also my only means of payment for it would be Paypal. I have been reading other threads on here about Atmosphere, Choudojour or whatever it is called, and NSPs and such. Thing is, I have very little experience with all of this. Wondering what all you guys do to be able to play new and upcoming games. I mainly like to do save editing, and I feel I am missing out on the newer games, as well as the possibility of using PkHex with SW/SH. Any help is appreciated on all of this :)

There is a tutorial section on the forum which I think people over look. Start there.
https://gbatemp.net/forums/switch-tutorials.289/

Ok if I was you I would delete everything off the sd card you have except the Nintendo folder.
Get the atmosphere files or use something like sdsetup.com
Get Hekate and backup your nand before doing anything else. (And boot0/1)
Find the 9.0 Or what ever you want firmware update (Google is your friend or even duckduckgo.com)
Load up the latest atmosphere and use Choudojournx to update the firmware making sure you select the exfat update even if you don't use a sd card that's formatted to that it doesn't affect anything else.
Get the latest Sig patches so you can play backup games and get checkpoint which is a save game manager for the switch.
But check out the tut section in the forum as people have spent time building them for you. DO NOT USE YOUTUBE as a guide... They are mostly outdated

Btw you should wait more then a day for a reply as people like myself only check this forum once a day.

Thank you so much for your help chippy! I looked over the tutorial section on the forum, but I do have a few questions before proceeding:

- When I format my mSD, should I go with exFAT, or FAT32? I heard that FAT32 works better with the Switch, but doesn't support files over 4GB. What would I do about larger games such as Pokémon SW/SH, which is around 10GB?

- Is it recommended to create an EmuNAND? If yes, should I update BOTH SysNAND and EmuNAND? I was thinking of updating Switch to FW 8.1.0.

- For backup games and NSPs, do I need to be in CFW to play/launch them?

Further help is much appreciated :)

The fat32 and exfat question attracts a lot of opinions here. I have always used exfat and having had an issue. Just get a genuine sd card not a fake. Some emulators work better on fat32. If your just doing backup plan and maybe some save game backup/restore I found personally exfat 2as fine
For fat32 large game files, if you install them over usb the apps installing will split them for you

Unless your going online with the system I wouldn't bother with emunand. It will not be as fast as normal nand and if you do a backup of your nand and keys which you should do anyway you can restore them if you have any issues.

For backup play yes you need to be in CFW or they will error out as you won't have the right tickets on your system saying you bought the games

Thank you so much for the info! For backup play, are sigpatches the same as tickets? I saw a thread on here about sigpatches for atmosphere, but am not sure what they are exactly...
