Obviously my left joy-con's stick is drifting, I've done the compressed air thing which helped briefly. I've probably put the joy-con through too much to get it fixed under Nintendo's new programme, but I'm happy replacing the stick myself, they don't cost much.

You can buy Nintendo ones or non-Nintendo ones (example aliexpress listing with both). The Nintendo one would presumably have the same reasonable chance of starting to drift. Has anyone tried the unofficial ones, do they work as well as the official ones in the first place, and are they susceptible to the same drifting shenanigans?

i have used the third party ones, not really had much issue, sometimes they will be a little off centre after you first install them, but nothing a quick calibration won't fix, i have also had a couple that arrived seemingly faulty and wouldn't function correctly even when calibrated, although its only been about 2/100, as for the official nintendo ones, i kinda didn't go for them after the first few i got as they looked like they had been pulled from damaged controllers or something and who knows how much use they had seen, not sure if it was just the one seller i bought them from, they were in decent condition, but clearly not brand new

Thanks! I got impatient and ordered an unofficial one last night, along with some of those metal buckles. I'd still like to hear anyone's experience regarding how the unofficial ones compare to the official ones in general, and whether they ever start drifting.

I’ve been using unofficial ones to fix joycons and i think they work as intended. I only had problems with some of the metal buckles since some of them is too thick to fit in place.

honestly i wouldn't believe them if they say original nintendo ones anyways.

that said, get a couple. if they're cheaply manufactured, you might get a dud like i did once.
