So whatever I try to load Project M on CFG usb loader it just launches a corrupted version of brawl. Basically I'm using the following setup: Loading brawl directly through the sd card slot using CFG, installed Project M properly (at least I think I did) extracting everything to the root of the sd card, I activated Ocarina and set hooktype to "axnextframe" or "vpi", with both Brawl and the sd card configured properly I tried running the game, CFG loader tells me that it found the codes necessary and that it's booting up, but It just launches to a corrupted version of brawl, whanever I try to enter a match it freezes and the game just doesn't respond afterwards...I'm really stuck, doesn't anywone know whay to do?

"INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
Please follow the instructions below. Note: The instructions are for the Hackless method. If you're using a Homebrew method, simply delete any previous version of Project M, extract the files to your SD card then boot Homebrew and select the Project M Launcher. If you are using the Installer, you will prompted to select a package to download.

  • Delete any custom Brawl stage files on your Wii and SD Card! Don't assume that because you haven't made any there aren't any; 3 custom stages are included with a new savefile of Brawl.
  • Delete any previous version of Project M from your SD Card and make sure the card itself is not named "Project M" or any derivative thereof.
  • Unzip the file and open the folder that comes out, or use the Installer to download and generate the folder instead.
  • Move the contents of that folder to your SD Card.
  • Remove any Gamecube Memory Cards.
  • Boot up Brawl and go to the Stage Builder.
  • The Project M Launcher will boot; select Launch Game.
  • You will see a straploader saying Project M 3.6. Additionally, if your menu image looks like the image below, then go ahead and play and enjoy Project M!"
Did you follow bullet 5 and 6?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also The Stage Builder method doesn't work with SDHC cards (>2GB)

Hi thanks for the help! I already followed all of these steps (even erased the default custom stages from brawl, even though I'm using a hacked wii) You see I'm using a 64gb sd card, but that shoudn't matter since I'm trying to install pm through the homebrew method, using a usb loader to play the game, also I dont have any gc memory cards plugged, I am trying to redownload the pm files, in order to see if the download got corrupted somehow, but other than that I don't have any clue of what might be wrong.

Are you on wii or wii u? also http://ssbpm.info/quickstart/
maybe it's this "
  1. "Put the USB into the outermost port on the back of your Wii (the other one doesn't work for this)"

I'm on Wii. Now that you mentioned, both the PM and brawl wbfs file are on the same sd card, could that be the reason it's not working?
I'm not too sure to be honest, but you could rename/make the file hidden on the card temporarily.
Does regular brawl work for you? also are you using a pal rom or an ntsc

Right I'm gonna try to use the usb port alongside another sd card in order to test this, also I'm using a ntsc brawl (my wii is also ntsc) and I can play brawl normally, the wbfs file works fine, It's just when I try enabling PM that the errors occur.

Try a pal rom apparantly ntsc wasn't tested even though it should work it might not for whatever reason. Another sd could help

I just wanna update the information. So I actually tested using the usb port, still no luck, it still just loads a corrupted version of brawl, I also don't know if the sd card is the problem, since I've been using it until now without problems.

Also I forgot to mention one thing. This version of brawl that I'm using was patched to support Wimmfi, I doubt it, but could that be the reason the PM mod is going crazy? Also I found this video: this guy's PM is acting pretty similar compared mine, even the way brawl gets corrupted is exactly the same, the only difference is that he is using a disc and I'm using a loader to run the game. do you guys know what may be causing this mess?

I would try to get the normal version from their site working first, but tbh I'm not sure

I misunderstood and thought you had a patched project m. I would try a nonpatched iso then
It's odd because I've seen articles telling that it was indeed possible to patch the iso and use project m, in fact I just confirmed with a friend who tested the game, that the mod indeed works with the same patched iso. What's even wierder is that he is using the same setup as mine, I really dont know what I'm doing wrong.

I know this thread was posted some months ago, but I found a solution! I found out that you can't load PM and Brawl on the same drive, the Brawl wbfs file and the PM files need to be separated in different slots, The brawl wbfs file needs to be read by the wii on the USB slot (closest to the edge of the console) and the PM files need to be read on the SD slot (on the front of the console) doing this fixed the problem.
