Hardware Nintendo Switch Won't Charge Or Turn On

Hey everybody,
Before anything the switch is not mine so I may lack some information on what could have happened before this... It also has no homebrews or CFW installed on it, absolutely nothing.

So it won't charge (I've tried charging it using different outlets without the dock but no light), I've tried holding the power button for 30 secs without/while charging and then holding it for another few secs but nothing.

Then I've decided to put it on the dock. The dock's light began flashing, after around 15 mins I took the switch, still nothing while trying to turn it on. Apparently it already happened to it someday but it ended up turning on...
What shall I do ? I hope it's not a black screen of death issue

If you have other switch or you can use a friends switch try o charge the battery with it. Just to make sure is not a battery issue.

Also maybe is on autorcm so try to plug in with a computer an check if it can detect the switch.

Hey thanks for answering, unfortunately I know no one who has a switch. However it's def not on autorcm (it's my sister's so I know she doesn't mess around with cfws and all)

if you have a usb-c cable plug it in move it around see if it lights up

how does she normally charge it with a dock?

things to try unplug dock
press switch for 12 sec or 30 sec let go for a sec and press power again

but if you put these things in a cabinet or where it gets hot it messes with solder on the usb port

If the battery is completely drained, then it's going to need a good portion of the day charging, as charging from 0% is REALLY slow at first. I believe it's to prevent damage. The Switch is also designed to shut off and stay that way when under a certain battery percentage, so even if it is charging, it won't let you turn it on (I think until over 5%). If that is the case, then you just need to be patient as it charges. Once over a certain percentage, then charging will go faster.

Switch on autorcm needs to be on sleep mode when not in usage. Turning it off will just make the battery drain, dock or not.

I'm having a similar issue. I've tried on multiple docks. The docks don't have a blinking light, it blinks once as I put the Switch on the dock, then the light turns off. I've left on the dock for a day, tried both docks, and it still won't turn on and the green light turns off and on really quick as I place the Switch on the dock. Not sure what to do.

As others have said, stick it on the charger for a day and try to send a payload to it (as it sounds like it might be stuck in AUTORCM which would make the switch seem like its bricked but really its just waiting for a payload).

In the past, autorcm drains battery because when the switch has shutdown, it immediately spring back to RCM mode. So it is draining the battery, no one knows it because RCM mode has no indication other than a black screen. Hence battery drain...

I think you are confused, the fix is for the custom firmware called "atmosphere" by SciresM

Yeah thats my point we need a universal fix for all cfw and having it as a nsp installer would be very beneficial to us since not only we can power off our switch from the home menu but alos fix autorcm. I only see it limited to atmoshpere b/c it hasn't been done on anything else

Something like this happened to me and charging till morning did not work because the flashing light on dock shows that it won't charge, so I disconnected the charger and left switch alone to discharge completely. After 8-10 hours when I connected it to the charger battery light indicator turned on steady and red; after several hours it turned on.

Hey yall,

I know I'm a few months late to the ball game, but I wanted to post this as a potential fix. My cousin got her 6 y/o a switch for Christmas, and it worked fine for the last 2 weeks. Suddenly, it wouldn't charge on the dock or straight on the charger at all. The green light on the dock would flash once as the switch was inserted and then go off, followed by the switch attempting to turn on for about 3 seconds and shutting off. And that would repeat. This obviously made the switch entirely completely unusable. I, the tech savvy cousin, put the system through the usual troubleshooting process, with no success. Finally I fixed the problem entirely. I felt a small lip at the bottom of the screen, where it meets the plastic. I firmly squeezed the screen into place. And suddenly the switch would turn on, and charge both on charger and dock, without issue. Like nothing had ever happened. I think her son might have dropped it and caused the replacable touch screen surface to pop ever so slightly out of place. And pressing it back in fixed the issue. My cousin was dreading having to deal with the warranty, so this was a true save for her. And we weren't able to find this situation online. So, if anyone happens to read this and has the same issue, I hope my story can help you!
