Been messing about with it all day trying to get a few different thinks to work just to see what it can and can't do; managed to get everything for Flatpak installed but none of the apps seem to work. This may well be an ARM issue im not sure.

I couldn't figure a way around this. I figured out how to exit Kodi, but logging in again booted it back up. Can't use the keyboard or mouse either. It's a trap! I ended up reimaging.
you need to get a linux machine and a mouse/keyboard.
connect your microSD to a linux machine, then you can access ext4 filesystem, where your setup resides
disable autologin (editing config files), then when you reboot on your switch select session to unity not kodi (google is your friend).

False. Session can be changed on the switch at the login screen.

I didn't see it, and it was a hassle to try to navigate the mouse + click in Kodi, considering that mouse position reset every time you you let go.

The one time I got to the login screen, I just assumed I could login as normal. Ooops. I am not very good with linux, and I wanted to make sure I had no traces of kodi left on my system. Re-imaging worked for me as I barely did anything worth keeping with the system.

That being said, I would love a good Kodi tutorial--optimized for a docked switch.

here my experiences:
1.- inmeddiatly after initial setup and unzip update. connected microSD to my linux machine and used gparted.
2.- now I've a dual boot setup 64GB=(48 GB to my NSP games+16GB to my linux setup). working fine booting linux through hekate or atmos 0.8.9 with its own payload.
3.- installed kodi, retroarch, xfce, tried kde plasma. everything very promissing.
4.-desesperated, because poor control options (input methods, joycons calibration, etc.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The linux on switch is a nice experience, but i will wait to get OTG and proper joycons. It desesperates me to get stuck sometimes configuring input methods.

PS. tried to instal kde active and plasma and I can't

thanks to everybody working on this nice effort.

Joy Cons work great on v1.1 with no calibration needed. Did you apply that update?

They can operate the Kodi GUI? I was having trouble with Ubuntu not picking up my USB peripherals due to the Kodi interface/interference. Also, at the time of my issue, they were re-paired for Horizon.

I didn't tested them. I was trying to setup osd keyboard and linux desktop enviroments first.
I've read in this thread that the joycons do not get recognized if linux boots with them connected.

You just disconnect them and pair them with bluetooth.

I'm not sure about Kodi, I haven't used it. I'm sure if it doesn't work out of the box then possible

You must've misread. They work fine if you boot Linux while they're connected. You just have to unattach them and pair them with Bluetooth, and then you can reattach them.

Not entirely true. I have autologin enabled and I was greeted with a login screen after installing kodi and restarting.
I had autologin enabled, and it went straight to Kodi when it boot from cold.

It sounds like your autologin didn't auto - login for some reason.

Anyways, if you can somehow navigate the impossible cursor to click your way out (be fast w/ "drag and tap") you can exit to the login screen without rebooting.

Hey everyone,

I created account here to post a bit and help get linux on switch better.
First up great work OP for bringing ubuntu to the switch really like it.

I figured I play around with it and try something with it. Playing windows games on the switch using ubuntu sounds fun. So I did some research on topic, since I am a Linux Gamer anyway.
Wine has an ARM-build availiable see here: (due to restrictions I cant post links here so just remove the space in the link and copy it into the adress bar); wiki. winehq. org/ARM64

The article above states that it seems really possible to run winx86 programms using emulation. So here is the next article: wiki. winehq. org/Emulation

I did some testing on the last method listed in the article above using hangover (can be found here: github. com / AndreRH/ hangover)

I nearly got it to compile on the switch (which takes some time) though I still run into some errors with mingw. So maybe someone here would like to help me get up and running and write a little guide on how get this up and running on the switch?

Every help is appreciated. Though don't get your hopes that high. since some games seem to work but the switch hardware will limit the possibilities quite hard. My dream would be to get some visual novels running on the switch.
