I'm a new guy here, used the forum as guest a bit prior, but not much. I probably can find the info by searching extensively, but quite frankly, I'm lazy.

So... why do I sense a lot of hate on TX? They seem to be working hard (for profit? That's the issue?), why the hate?

Much obliged.
They produced shit products (RGH chips) and always claimed it was your fault when they don't work. When RGH2 was first released, they claimed removing a resistor and adding a ground wire to shielded wire would fix it, which never worked. Then they released new chips later when someone else figured out how to get it working better.

Shit company and I refuse to support.

1 . you said that with the decompiler already. and btw i wanted a name for a dat decompiler
2 . you cant know again and the warmboot has been reimplemented by WAIN.
3. why do youn know that everything is stolen
1. Use hexkyz’s deobfuscation scripts, then load the output in ida or whatever decompiler you use...
2. WAIN didn’t reimplement warmboot lol. Gateway is using a direct copy of Atmospheres lp0fw/warmboot firmware, this has been confirmed
3. Check out hexkyz’s twitter, and if you don’t believe it you can easily check yourself :)

That's strange I bought over 1,000 chips from them back when i ran video game repair shop, and only had less than dozen that didn't work, and their CR4XL is still being produced and selling very well. And before the 360, never had issue with their xbox mods either, and don't forgot their PS3 mimnus devboard, it worked perfectly, and still being produced and selling very well as its now being used to power MAME joystick/button encoders to USB for home-built arcade cabs.

Oh'well hate it is... you can't change the minds of rocks. :)

1. again for example sysmods are not loaded like magic they must be loaded in the Firm or you cant just say INSTALL to a nsp you must copy it to a path and then add it to the libary IT MUST BE IN A SINGLE WAY WHICH IS WORKING YOU CANT JUST SAY DO IT AND THEY DO IT (nah Nintendos security skills maybe BUT IT SHOULDNT BE LIKE THAT)
2. again now real proof but 1. i never heard that and google didnt too and then Stargate, Gateway, Stargate3ds (what dont make sense why not directly on their website then they wouldnt get this amount of hate) and TX and maybe more i dont know a complete library of Gateways and TX things.
3. how it was in school? oh yes. see number 1! :) my favourite homework :)

Except you can purchase the SX GEAR

You're right of course, I guess I've not been paying attention.

I don't get the hate though. Anyone selling dongles is profiting from free software, as it would be useless without it. While TX are developing extra functionality.

There's one specific reason why I really HATE SXOS and Xecuter.
They broke the only golden rule for Homebrew stuff since the Nintendo Wii:

What is wrong with paid for homebrew/unlicensed code? Now this instance might or might not have troubles with such things but the concept in general... nowt wrong with that. You mentioned the Wii, OK. What changed there compared to prior generations? Ignoring things like the Amiga (which was a fairly open device, along with all its various ancestors) we have seen various people do that... since devs started locking down their consoles (the US seeing fairly fundamental court cases on the matter) so NES and up.

Well, selling Homebrew/unlicensed products is one thing. For the NDS, I bought a R4, too. Because there wasn't a "free" alternative like modded Software to load homebrew or pirated games.
But the Nintendo Switch is... pretty much open now. We can mod all firmwares to load homebrews and pirated games, at least.
There are many CFWs out already, most/all of them based on Atmosphere and ALL of them are free, except SXOS.
In the past, Team Xecuter stole Homebrews/tools which were released open source and sold them as "their own invention". Tinfoil is a good example.
Also SXOS uses A LOT of code from Atmosphere and also sells this as "their own product".

Well, they brought a crappy implementation of EmuNAND (which literally fucked with the SysNAND in the first versions) as well als XCI Loading.
But this won't make up with the shit Xecuter did in the past.
Also they fuckin created "StargateNX", a "copy" of Adanex but with a montly subscription to download pirated games. Holy shit man.

I don't want to even mention the brickcode they had implemented in past versions.

Also the lies about their "server migration" is something I really hate.
Their Domain was seized by Nintendo.

Many of those are potentially valid issues, or are at least arguments against buying SXOS (assuming you care enough about the licenses there to make a stand). The way it was initially phrased though made it sound like paid homebrew was something you had a dislike of. I would have to say though so what if there is a free version? If the paid version does something you want that the others do not, or do not do as well, up to and including support and timely updates, then yeah...

Also there was a free way to load homebrew on the DS. It was called wifime, though you might have wanted to combine it with flashme, and in many cases predates DS slot flash carts. Not very good at commercial games but should be noted in this.

This was before the CR4XL. They had their original RGH chips then came out with a "fix" to use them for RGH2 that did not work, but if you couldn't get it to work it was *your* fault, not their shitty hardware. They then released new chips without a good explanation why (I think this was the CR4XL and was ~$10 more per chip), but they supposedly worked for RGH2. At that point I had already decided not to use CX products again, or do RGH2 for people.

Though the scene was dying out at that point anyway.

If you're using open source CFW for piracy then it doesn't matter which one you're using. "Oh, look, I use an open source CFW to illegally pirate games with. I'm such a better person than TX users". Meh. The entire argument is mute if you're doing that as you're breaking more licenses and laws then Xecuter has done.

Most console hackers attempt to avoid piracy and have a free method for people to run homebrew etc and TX is stealing code from others saying its their own and also just selling piracy

Lets be honest though. Anyone who's bought a SXOS license has only paid because of exclusive features such as emunand, XCI loading, etc. If the Atmosphere devs created a paid license for their own XCI loading, I'd gladly pay them too.

The bottom line is that paying customers will go where the better product is. Have TX done some questionable things? Yeah. But the paying customer doesn't care about that. They only care about the product they're receiving. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
