Hi all,

I'm using SX Pro for my backup. SD card is formatted to ExFat for xci file (only FAT32 works with home-brew). Here's the plan:

  1. SD in ExFAT for xci files
  2. Thumb Drive in FAT32 for homebrew
Is this going to work?

No. External drive is only for NSP and XCI.
Hmmm no. It also finds homebrew .nro located on external hdd or thumbdrives. Try it out.

Op not only fat 32 works with homebrew but it's recommended. You could stick to exfat and do regular backups in case any corruption occurred.

I've tried 3 SD cards and none of them works with ExFAT. Once it's formatted to FAT32 then it works which sucks because I can't load any xci.

Are you using mac? It may be a problem with the archive bit. I'm sure it should work as just switch from exfat to fat32 recently. I've also run homebrew nro from external devices.

You are right. I am using Mac. Unfortunately, I don't have access to PC other than work PC.

If i were to use HDD then how do i put my switch to RCM? The HDD is plug to the dock therefore; the switch needs to be on the dock.

For rcm you'll need to remove the switch to take the switch out of the dock but once sx os boots up you can put it back on the dock. Sleep mode works so as long as you don't fully turn of the switch you wont need to go to rcm very often.

To manage the sd you could try running windows 10 on your mac via boot camp but there other workarounds for removing the archive bit from files on mac. Try to google it. Haven't used mac myself to let you know :(

you sure that's not because you haven't installed the exfat update?

How would it work if I were to use HDD?

So I will place the SX Pro license in SD card and other files in HDD?

Not sure what you mean because ExFat works perfectly. I am trying to run ExFat for home-brew. I was updated to version 6 via Nintendo server. Is there more update that needs to be done?

Yes. Boot.dat, license and all you cfw related files on sd. Homebrew .nro, .xci and nsp can be placed on the HDD.
