ever since I started backing up saves to cloud (in October), I've encountered a strange bug where it will say: "save data on console doesn't match cloud's." the time is correct as shown in system settings. then, it will open the the game without a problem the save works, so I don't get what's happening. this error appears right when you launch the game, and it happened on several the latest being guacameele. btw, I have cloud save set to automcatic.

sounds like your local save is different from the cloud, since it is on automatic backup it expects the same save, so if it's different it thinks you loaded a new save.

the saves are always automatic. I'm afraid of losing save data, since it already happened with my first switch.

my original switch (stock) died for some reason, so I lost 450 hours.. I don't want that amount of frustration to happen again.

then why not use a save manager like checkpoint?

also, how'd your first one die? Maybe I can bring the dead you speak of to life again

I prefer to keep it stock. I"m not sure how the original system died. it may have been a power surge. Nintendo claimed that they couldn't retrieve the saves. it was still under warranty. I'm trying to figure out why this is happening, and whether anyone else has encountered this bug.

understandable, if it was fried as they said then was it plugged into a powerstrip? was it grounded as well? Lastly was it ran through the wall straight or through a surge protector then the wall?

it was connected to an extension cable, which was connected to a power strip, to a second power trip ,and lastly into one more strip. when I examined the extension cable, the ground prong fell off, and the other two prongs were bent.

daisy chaining non surge protector strips together is really bad, you're lucky it didn't fry anything else. I'd pickup at least two for your daisy chaining needs. EDIT: Also grounds are important too, make sure you have them to help prevent this.

Just use the feature in the save management saying: overwrite cloud save with consoles (not the other way around, exercise caution here)

Happens to me regularly with 2 switches playing the same game on the same save.

I have too many electronics plugged in. I would sell some things like the 360. I do have enough posts to sell them here on temp, so I might try that. I'm just such a hoarder. :P

how do you use the same saves between two switches? I thought they were locked to the system or profile (locked as well?)

1. Both switches have the same nintendo account linked and active. (This means also eshop games are shared, but only the main switch can play them offline. Carts FTW here)
2. NSO with online backup is available.

Play game on S1 -> automatic Cloud backup -> automatic download on S2 -> play game on S2 -> automatic cloud backup -> automatic download on S1

Offline play on S1 sometimes corrupts this workflow, hence manual intervention.

it's pretty frustrating. I have a condition where I can't stand or walk for very long, so I'm opted to buy all games digitally I definitely don't want all that money to have been wasted with no way to get that money back. does your secondary switch display that message I mention whenever you load a game?

That's how I normally notice something is off. I can't remember if it is on the first or second switch though. I also can't test at the moment (because of 7.0.0 reasons). I then manually reconcile via the save manager by uploading my most recent save manually and downloading on the other switch manually.

that's what sucks. I finally decide to go legit, and I have this stuff happening. it really makes want to hack the thing;. however, if I did that, I'd probably go on a download frenzy, then, play nothing. that's how it's been for many years.

If you enter RCM mode and use hekate to take a full NAND backup, but don't boot into CFW (just shut down and do a regular boot), then your system will still be clean/stock, and your backup will contain all your saves at that point in case you have any more disasters in future.

I noticed that my timezone was off on the system. I changed it on the online eshop, so would that or could that affect the cloud saving system? I think I've had other issues with the save not being read though, so I'm not sure.

alright, I think I've figured it out. I did a test. I opened super mario bros u, beat a stage, then let it update. I've beaten the game, so I can save everywhere ;) . I then moved once on the map screen, then saved. I immediately opened ups ys viii (trying to beat a second time after my first swtch died, but I'm at the final dungeon. :D). this thwarted the update procedure, as I entered super mario u. I got that error message by doing that. continuing to open that game caused that error message; ignoring the error message and opening the game worked. I think the issue is not giving the system enough time to update the cloud save, which it can't do by being in a game.

alright, after doing a few more tests. the message doesn't pop up every time, but the automatic save backup is turned off until you go back into the game, then save.
